Indoor CBD Extraction Help?!

Hello all! On my first grow of CBD strains to make oil/tincture for anxiety/pain.

My question is around harvesting - do I need to completely dry and cure like normal, before I start the extraction process, either by infusion or ethanol extraction (I haven't decided yet) or can I start the process with freshly harvested still wet buds? And should I also include the leaf in this process, or flowers only?

Thanks!

Ethanol loves water, when I use ethanol, I dry well past the 62%. No need to pull more water solubles out than necessary.

Okay so drying/curing IS still necessary... or more the drying. Do you use those little dessicant packets?

I understand what you're saying [HASHTAG]#science[/HASHTAG]

Drying necessary, the cure not so much. I don't use the packs, I just leave out for a few more days, once dry, everything into the freezer for 48 hrs. Or on dry ice for a couple hours. The colder the better.

If you live somewhere like I do where 190 proof isn't allowed, I will dry ice shake the material and then just wash the keif to save on ethanol.

Yeah we struggle to get anything close to pure ethanol here..
Unless it's an isopropyl... or not denatured.

Unless I can find iso in the 99% (rare) I stay away.
Might look into this, will take 151 to 190. Keeps everything "food grade"

What are your thoughts on this perfume grade ethanol?

Herb should be dried for accurate decarb, and to eliminate troublesome water.
Curing is completely unnecessary when making edibles or tincture.
You can even fast dry in a food dehydrator (110 F for 8-10 hr), and have same-day-as-harvest edibles, tincture.
190 proof alcohol extraction will get almost all the cannabinoids, but strained oils won't.
For stronger infused oils, don't strain out the plant matter.
