Calling out bad Autoflower genetics/actors

I’m not bagging on FB. I have a ton of them, and I’ve got an orange sherbet in a 10 gallon right now that’s going to be a beast. I’m just not necessarily sold that they’re the actual breeders. Sweet has similar strains, hell one’s even named Fastbuds. And Errors seeds has all of the same “strains” as both mostly.

I’m not an Errors fanboy either, I just happened to stumble on them - they’re not that popular here in the USA. But I did get an errors freebie. Haven’t grown it. Which sparked my curiosity. They’re a Ukrainian company who sources the seeds from Spain. Which led me down a rabbit hole where it was mentioned that FB and Sweet seeds are sourced from the same breeding houses.

If it sounds like I’m being an asshole, I don’t mean to be. I’m seriously curious.

How much homework on this have you done? Both fast buds & Sweet seeds have been around a long time. Sweet seeds site pretty much lists what they used to create their autoflower strains.

I do not know much about Error, other then they are pretty new name out there. Popping Error Seeds into google, quickly brought up that its Ukraine breeds. Hmmm... And their strains copy the name of breeders who have won multiple cannabis cups. Hmmm... As the guy from DHG states in the opening post of this thread, know what you are buying.

When strains get popular brands put them all out too and make their own version. Like white widow or northern lights. I think that might explain some of the same strains one breeder can buy another breeders seeds and just copy them too. I'm not saying fastbuds or errors are doing this. I've had good experience with fastbuds. Not the most potent. But still gets you there. Great flavor. Grown their crystalmeth
lsd25 blue dream matic. never tried errors. Also want to add the crystal was uppity mind racing the lsd25 was like a stupor first time I hit it. When I saw not as potent I mean not 30 percent they are still potent in the 20s I would guess.

I’ve done more homework than I care to admit. And admittedly it can become a drag. Kinda sucks all of the fun out of it.

Yes, as I mentioned Errors is Ukrainian based, and sources their seeds from Spain. And FB is USA company based in Spain.

I’ve never grown an Errors seed. I’ve grown plenty of FB.

so clearly, I’m not fanboying over errors. I’ve spent plenty of money on FB and not a dime on Errors.

I’ve been under an assumption that most Spain based seed breeders are sourcing from a breeding house in Spain. I don’t really care what their sites say. What are they supposed to say? That they outsource the breeding to someone else?

I can think objectively enough to consider that seeds out of Spain are possibly bred by a couple places, repackaged and sold under different logos. But at the end of the day, aside from feeling slightly misled, oh well. I’ll still grow them.

I disagree. Doesn't idenitify who is doing the selections, etc. Could mean any number of scenarios.
Alot of companies are teams I think mephisto has multiple breeders I'm pretty sure. Maybe it's a mix of both. Tga subcool bred some of his own mzjill bred some and he brought in other breeders like jinxproof who went in to start his own company after tga

Quickest way to seperate a breeder from a phony is check to see if they have a presence on AFN and check to see if they have a vendor badge.

Buying anything else is a gamble.

When growing autos everything is germed from seed. There is no such thing as 100% stability in any generation of seed. The plant will always pass on genetic variances within its offspring. A breeder can narrow this scope down but never will it be 100 % stable. The more generations and the higher the number of plants to select from the more narrow this scope becomes. So when a breeder release millions of seeds for the public to grow it's inevitable that some of these seeds will perform differently than others will.

If you buy seed from an official breeder like FB, DP or Meph then you are guaranteed a certain level of quality because these strains have been developed over several generations using thousands of specimens. If somebody is ragging on the well known successful breeders its probably gonna one of 2 reasons or both. They are not a skilled grower and did not get the true potential from the genetics or they are trying to promote their own genetics and think it's a good tactic to put down others.

Personally I would avoid any breeder who puts down the work of others. If they are on their game then let the genetics do the talking.

With respect to FB, on what do you base that conclusion?
