Updateroooooooo!
Above is a picture as of 2 days ago of the feminized califlower seed run cabinet. I removed 3 confirmed males, the removal of these males is very timely, i think my first of the colloidal silver treated califlower females is just starting to show some balls so ill have a proper age spread of females to see when its best to stagger the treated and untreated females for highest seed yield. i dont want to call it yet until it is very clear to me and in pictures, but im pretty confident these are the beginnings of balls. i really need a macro lens, and my girl friend to get back from visiting her parents house so she can take some proper pictures for me. heres what i have now.
I know its very hard to make out weather those are balls starting to form or not, which is why im not calling it but can anyone weigh in? am i jumping the gun? it is a little early. jm are you seeing any results yet? here is the above cs treated califlower (in all 3 pics) in the cabinet next to a younger female califlower that HAS NOT BEEN TREATED WITH CS. The treated califlower is in the front the untreated is in the back. you can see the huge difference in the flowers. the overuse of cs on the front female maybe the cause of the leaf problems im seeing. its not ph plus besides the cs they are in identical grow conditions and soil.
I have yet to go out and check on the girls (and freaks) today, if the balls(?) are any clearer i will post pics. Below is a picture of my oldest califlower, she broke ground on the 4th of october making here 35 days old. im hoping shes halfway done with her life. i have only given her one dose of vegetative nutes, shes in high quality soil. i think ill be giving her a starting dose of bloom today. floranova, probably .5ml to one gallon.
and to illustrate how the califlower compares to straight hbd, here is a picture of my oldest hbd, its about the same size as a califlower in a 1 gallon container which is 1.5 weeks younger. this hbd is in a 2.5gallon container. Compared to where the califlower above was at the same age, hbd is slower and much more sensitive to nutrient burn. of course this is only my limited experience with the two strains, a proper comparison would require many more plants and more controlled conditions. However im still confident that this is a normal trend. The leaves of the califlower are a perfect combination of hbd and fast bud #2, the structure is compact like hbd but with larger stronger branches. I have also not had much variance in phenotypes so far but they are young. loving this mix, nothing like standing on the shoulders of giants like sweet seeds and short stuff
