Okay so Im interested in CO2 What gardener wouldn't be. I've been looking around at how to obtain my C02 supply and have finally found something I believe I can obtain and get in the house without being obvious. It's a 24 oz cylinder so it doesn't hold too much but I guess my main question would be is it big enough? How much c02 should i be using? When is the best time to use it? I'm using a 4x4 x7 tent.

dont bother with tanks that small... i was running "C" class tanks... quite large... 3 foot tall and 14 in diameter or so.... and every 2 weeks at low dosing with proper ventilation... better consider air conditioning and controlled ventilation times if you really want to be effective... it gets quite complex in cost and equipment to be effective in my experience... if you're currently runninmg your fan continuos when the lights are on... dont waste your money...

however... it can be great if you set it up right.

for thought, someone described generating co2 by dumping marble chips in muriatic acid. apparently both ingredients are cheapy available at home depot.. description (and some calculations for volume iirc) is on an old thread at seedmine (previously gardenscure). seemed like a safer idea than a tank.

How about a very small propane burner? Or even a natural gas co2 generator. Seems that would be a lot more efficient at generating co2 than using acid...

yeah propane is easiest... i heat with a ventless propane heater in the winter for the co2... it works like a charm...

I'd be a little nervous using super caustic materials to make co2... just cuz if it ever got out and set your house on fire or something horrible...

vinegar and baking soda is much cheaper in that regard... as is brewing beeer with yeast and directing the by-product co2...

there's also some kind of mushroom product in a container that is supposed to wok well.. use the on-site search tool maybe.
