Bean popped, tap root showing and growing like a mofo after 48hrs using the paper towel method. Today she has been potted up into the smallest pot I could lay my hands on in a mix of Westland multipurpose compost with added John Innes/20% perlite and some clay balls for better drainage. She is currently sitting in a warm position in the bathroom.......

There ain’t really anything to see as she hasn’t popped her head above the dirt yet. I’d appreciate if some of you more experienced growers would pop by now and again and check the progress/point out anything that may help me along the way as it’s my first time growing under lights indoors.

Regards, BWM

It’s official.....we have lift off! I’m quite astounded that at a little less than three days after my bean hitting a bit of damp tissue she has reared her beautiful head above the dirt. Here you can see that she’s up and around (sorry for the rubbish pic) what’s even more impressive is that I took this photo a mere two and a half hours ago and already she has discarded the shell and is there in all her glory. Happy days

Just a little update, here we are today after 5 days and Georgina (yes, we named her) has sprouted leaves and seems to be doubling in size every 24 hrs(ish). She has been put on a bright windowsill during the day with a clear plastic cup on top to try and gain a greenhouse type effect and enhance the warmth, humidity and sun. During the evenings and overnight she has been shoved under a simple plug in USB L.E.D. Which has a blueish tinge to it. It’s not ideal but she seems to like it.

She has stretched up maybe an inch and a half but looks healthy so I’m happy.......

Anyhow, that’s where We’re at just now. I’m going to give it another 5 days ish, put her into her final pot and bosh her under a 300w MEIZHI panel to veg until I see any signs of flowering. Thanks for looking in!

Good evening Ladies and gentle folk, here we are with a brief update........

At day (7 I think?)It seemed that George had been trying to get away from the soil as fast as she could and had started to become far too tall with a thin stem. I had thought about this scenario beforehand and left a bit of space at the top of the pot to add more dirt should this happen, I also felt it was now time to add in a bit of breeze to help deal with that piss-poor attempt at a stem.

I took further measures and put her under the 300w Meizhi earlier than I said as clearly a sunny window and a shitty U.S.B were just not enough for her Majesty. She is currently on an 18/6 light cycle 21” from the lighting and she seems to be doing ok.

She has been temporarily housed in a utility cupboard for the time being until I do the final few tweaks in her new home..........

I’m really not used to putting seedlings into pots that large (unfortunately it’s all I had left) so I’d been cautiously giving her around 3ml of plain water since day 1 gradually upping it as she grew. By the time Mon morning came she was getting 6 - 8ml of water. I’ve been really careful not to soak her as I really didn’t want her sitting in stagnant water.

Late last night I could tell she was needing more and there were some new leaves so I decided it was time to give her a good soak, let her sit in the run off for 15mins and let her take what she needed. She is currently getting a sun tan under the veg setting.......

Heres the ugly bitch tonight.........

I hope I’ve not bored you all to death and my ramblings make sense. I’ve had a busy few days and I’m pretty tired tonight as I haven’t slept much so I’ve found it incredibly difficult to write stuff that makes sense let alone try and take photos.

Anyway, thanks for dropping in, take care, stay safe.

Regards, BWM

(Day 10 mini update) Today I noticed that despite a good soaking she is definately starting to drink like a fish. Time to water again today as tonight she is bone dry. I also noticed that she was starting to pray so I’ve increased the distance from the meizhi only an inch and a half but I I’ll see how I go. Hopefully I caught that in time and she won’t end up burnt. The temporary place she’s sat in now seems to be able to keep a constant temp of around 25 degrees c so I think I’m dialling it in slowly.

Thats all for now, cheers BWM

(Day 11 mini update) Georgie has started to require more water as the days go on. Tonight I gave her a very weak solution 0.5ml per litre of Maxi Crop Seaweed extract to try and promote more/bigger root growth before I transplant her carefully into her final 7litre pot which will happen in the next two or three days. The new leaves/growth is starting to pick up now and the leaves seem to be developing quite rapidly.
There are no photos today but I’ll update with some new ones soon!

Once again, thanks for taking the time to visit my Grow. Stay safe, Regards BWM

You need to transplant soon, the roots will have reached the bottom. Watering 3ml a day would not do much but she looks ok. Yes usb lights are bright for humans at night but not a plant. Be careful with transplant , autos are not fans of this. Curious why you did daily updates over a 2 hour period? Strange.

Hi @Rollin_along, thanks for dropping in! Your probably right about the 3ml of water and I was probably being over cautious but better safe than sorry as they say. She’ll be carefully transplanted soon.......
As for the updates, they were shared elsewhere already and copy/pasted here with some new updates added. Hence the two hour time thingy. Hope that’s a bit clearer now?

Got you! I soak my pots then let dry out, I grow in 5 litre pots. And for a seedling I don't usually water again after pre planting soak , for 2 weeks. Then weekly until flower then every 3.5 days or more.
