Hey, AFN How are we doing today? Out of anger at a small watering problem i ended up at my local grow shop today. After discussing my hatred for watering it was suggested i build a drip system. I think i have a good understanding on how it works but i'm not quite 100% sure and could use some reassurance.
6 Plants
What i bought:
250GPH sub pump
1/2" line
1/4" line
Digital timer that goes down to the second
6 port manifold
6 stakes/spikes
i have a 10 gallon rubber maid that i plan on using as a res

I threw together a quick diagram in hopes someone could tell me if i'm at least on the right page. Also when it comes to setting up the watering schedule. I have been feeding a gallon per plant give or take every couple days by hand. My plan is to set this up to feed two times a day at half gal increments(is that the right word??) From my understanding i should time how long it takes the system to fill up a half gallon of water then set that to cycle twice daily. Does that sound about right? Thanks in advance!

**EDIT Sorry i did not realize there is a coco section. My fault if i posted in the wrong spot.

Also how important are light leaks in such a small res? I was thinking about drilling some holes in the lid near the manifold in case of leaks.

That looks about right. You could also add an airstone to the res. Not sure thats really needed though.
I did this once and those digital timers just kept fucking up on me. Hopefully yours are better quality.
@Wile e Peyote is there anything missing in this setup?

You want to keep light leaks down as much as you can or put your res in a dark corner if you can and an air stone is a good idea i used to measure what comes out per minute off my drippers set it all up and get a measuring jug put the rest of your drippers in the res and one in the jug and run for a minute and see what comes out mine used to drip 300 ml a minute for the first week used to feed once a day for 1 min then the next week up it to 1.5 mins by week three it would be on twice a day by around week 6 the dripper was running 6 x a day at minute intervals and make sure you have something in your tent to catch the runoff [emoji106]

Like the guys have said this needs a bit of trials before putting into practice.

Even then it will need some monitoring before you can set/forget!

I would use this as a supplementary system and not a primary way of watering/feeding.. you really want a dedicated closed loop for that

If you end up spending round $100 for that iI think getting an autopot might be easier and more economical. The preformance is as good as dwc with airdomes. It's like coco on steroids. Just my 2 cents :)

Right on. I forgot to include the pump i have has a built in aerator. just a tiny air stone. What kind of timers where they?

Awesome. Pretty much on point with what i was thinking. I only have saucers ATM but i have bought a tray for the tent just have to wait on shipping. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the tips :) I plan on getting it built today and testing it out over the next week.
