Harvest & Curing Buds stored in Mason jars building up pressure !

Its just moisture coming out. Smelling them should tell you if they are fine. I don't believe anyone has a tougher time drying/curing than me. Its hot and humid all year round. I use an AC to dry about 5 days then jar cos AC bill is no joke! Even after jarring, I have to burp them in an AC room with dry mode. I am slowly removing more AC time in drying stage as I become more confident and im liking it so far. My buds gets up to almost 30C even in closets at hottest hours. With drastic changes in temps/RH, you get these burps and its normal. Nothing to worry about if they smell good. Just let it out and continue.

The small hygrometers are a must imo if your conditions are quite humid.

G,Day, Auto melt, Any information would be much appreciated, i thought i read recently where a Canadian commercial grower had to recall a large amount of bud due to mold ? I have read about a lot of home growers that store their bud in mason jars in closets at room temperatures, and have no problems storing long term. Where i live my closet temps range from about 4c to 40c.Closet storage during winter is ok, but summer is impossible. Thanks again Auto melt your input is much appreciated.....

G,Day, Equatorial, I understand about the moisture coming out,but i didnt think there was that much moisture to begin with ! and the buds smell fine. I suppose we all have to deal with our climate conditions, but i do feel for you mate. What long term storage method do you use ? Can you outline the process you use ? Thanks for your input Equatorial, is much appreciated.....

Wow that commercial grower must of lost a lot of money, still have good standards for the recall. Dinafem seeds have a real good right up on curing and drying.

Every one has there own way too make chips and they will all taste different. I can’t really say much, but thank you and I appreciate you. Good luck bro.

Best advice i can give you is to get those small hygrometers and put them inside each jar. That way, you will know when is too wet and vice versa! Everything else is pretty much the standard RH 50 for drying and 55-62 for curing. Whats left is time but this depends on your climate, bud density, drying methods and so much more.

Long term storage is just to make sure they are at the 62% that most ppl use as a standard. Once they stay at the desired 55-62 RH, then you don't need to burp them each day anymore. Begin with weekly burps and if they stabilize further, its ready for long term storage. With big temp changes like you have, there will be difference in pressure inside and outside jar. This plus moisture inside will cause the pressure you mentioned. Do not underestimate the moisture left in the buds. 62% is still very significant although pretty much safe from molding.

Occassional monitoring and smelling will keep your buds good. Experience will help you cure great buds every time!

G,Day Equatorial. Thanks for your input, i will certainly be looking for some hygrometers and yes experience is a great teacher. I have been growing for many years, but not as full-on as i am now. It can be a steep learning curve, but i dont mind. Thanks again your help is very much appreciated.......

G,Day, Cloudsosmoke, Yes, i have just been looking on E.bay for hygrometers, now that you have mentioned vacuum sealers i will also look at them. Thanks for your input, is much appreciated............Auto Melt, Thanks for the drying tip,i will go and have another look at my Buds. Thanks again.
Long term storage also oxygen eaters. They’re cheap and work. Amazon has them I’m sure eBay too

G,Day, Mizzo81, Oxygen eaters, thats a new one, i will check that out . Thankyou for your interest.
