G,Day all, I have a quantity of bud stored in 500ml mason jars,i have 62% Integra humidity packs inside the jars,i have been opening (burping) these jars for half an hour once per week. The bud is packed in to about 3/4 of the jars capacity, not too loose not to tight. The colour and smell of the bud is good. The bud has been in the jars for 4 months The bud feels quite dry ,but pliable. It looks good to me . I am storing these jars in a closet, now we are coming into summer the temperature in the closet has occasionally risen to 25c. When i opened the jars this morning there was enough pressure in the jars to blow the sealing part of the lid off ! This is the first time i have used Mason type jars, is this normal ? Research tells me that the storage temperature should be between 15 and 21c . should i be sealing the jars and leaving them longer before i burp them ? I need to be able to store these jars for around 12 months, using one jar at a time.Could somebody please point me in the right direction ? This is my first post on this site , any advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou,

Sounds like they got too warm, either that or something is rotting/fermenting. You shouldn't have to keep burping though. Did you check your humidity? Those packets don't work too well if your bud is to moist.

G,Day, Rollin Along. Yes the temperature rose to 25c,prior to the temp rise everything seemed ok. The bud feels quite dry, at present i am unable to check the humidity inside the jars, i will look into that. Thankyou for your input.

I’m not expert but I’ve found
You can get very cheap small hygrometers on eBay ..
I have about 15 of them (cost me about £20 total)
I put one in every jar at start of curing
So I can keep an eye on humidity..60-65%

For long term storage I use vacuum sealer with resealable jars
..I use them in those jars too

Ypu want temperatures around 20 in curing...

Mason jars.. only jar when the leafs are scrispy and stems literally snap.... I prefer drying around 25 days too be honest

G,Day, Cloudsosmoke, Yes, i have just been looking on E.bay for hygrometers, now that you have mentioned vacuum sealers i will also look at them. Thanks for your input, is much appreciated............Auto Melt, Thanks for the drying tip,i will go and have another look at my Buds. Thanks again.

If you can look at green house grow videos they cure in paper bags, that’s another idea.

I’ll tell you sonthing ive ruined buds in a mason jar when they were wet, even after drying, soon as it rained the humidity was suck back into the buds,

It’s best too invest in a dehumidifier which will keep room stable....probably one that can adjust with climate change,

It’s also sometimes best too harvest the buds in a lower humidity environment around 30 percent... this will also help with drying.

Drying and curing is the most crucial parts

G,Day, Auto Melt, Yes i also cured / dried in paper bags, the buds were quite dry when i placed them into mason jars.Everything seemed ok until the temperature rose to 25c. I have since removed buds from jars and dried them in paper bags for a further few hours. Buds are now back in the jars, i have a Hygrometer in one jar, after about 30 hours the humidity in this jar is 62%-64%, and appears stable. For the short term i have jars in a cooler, shortly to be stored in a dedicated freezer.I thought Mason jars were completely sealed from their immediate environment ? unless the seal in the lid is damaged ? Thanks for your input Auto Melt....

Deffo need too keep the buds stored in a cold place, I seen a video of a legal grow facility where the had air con on in the place where they stored all the curing plants in plastic boxes.

They also had 64c Converted 17.7 degrees
And there humidity was stable at 50 percent In drying

They wasn’t using no machine or or scissors just there hands too crisp of leaves off.

And straight too a room in pots with air conditioning in almost seemed like a fridge...

If I can find the video I’ll upload it,

They were growing in a proper multi million pound facility....

So if they ain’t doing it right who is

They were growing a strain shiska berry
