New Grower Biz Ops & Networking

I fully agree with some of the stuff that has been said here I ran a company for 8 years and had some amazing opportunities but they cost big bucks to get into and I unfortunately had to fold after 9 years once the big players get there hands in this industry someone like me that wants to provide medicine and help people won't be able to eat

I think if this amazing plants was just decriminalized but still technically illegal that would make it good for the small guys that want to do nothing more than provide for their families and help others

On a secondary note I think it would be awesome to land a job in the industry and I was really looking at moving to maine they seem to have a pretty good set up right now law wise. Had a guy that was going to back me to move up there but he backed out as I was packing because he didn't want to be involved in illegal activities. Kinda pissed me off the guy knows nothing about how things work I think this is one of those points where if you have the money to get into it you better do it because in 3 to 6 years there will be no more money to be had if I had the money to move and find a job in this industry I'd do it in a heartbeat because God knows there aren't any jobs where I am located (trust me after 100+ applications in 3 weeks and not even being able to get an interview I know)

That's a great start! I'm trying to see if there is a way I can get into the game, without having to pay out of the ass to do so. I haven't come up with anything yet, but I'm trying to think of a unique, yet simple way I can ride the wave that's about to come through the DC area. I think it would be tight to do some type of auto flower instructional class that goes over the basics of growing. Nothing too extensive, just an 8 hour instructional course.

Like the idea Bandit, how about this as a extension to it.

Personal grow consultant, bit like a wedding planner for growers lol.

Could visit new growers in house and discuss what they would like to get from the grow and make strain recommendations based on this (for med customers you could employ the help of a local qualified professional to help in this, creating further employment). Advise on grow area and equipment needed (could set up a partnership with a local supplier/growshop to get the best deals and further boost local economy).

For a extra fee or monthly/yearly subscription you could provide a 24hr emergancy help service, where if problems occur someone is always available for a in house diagnosis and treatment plan, or phone consultation. Over time with a growing customer base this would create even further local employment, with phone operator and on call canna medics.

This along with the information learned in your course would put many people on the right track to the perfect grow, while at the same time help boost local economy and show sceptics the positive financial impact the industy can have on a community.

Could be a good idea or not am just thinking out loud lol.

yeah i too want to pick a small piece of teaching in my area.make a good template and we can work it man lol!! thats why I want them books so i can formulate my own styled class just done for organic and easy meds growing for indoors and i bet word of mouth might do well there too.simple and informal is key i think especially for med patients.house calls to go over grow equipment and options.

Great idea! I like the way you think! That was along the lines of what I was thinking, but more! You sound like you've been putting some thought into it too, Spanglish!

We can make this happen, Eyes! So many members on here have the potential to do something in the industry, big or small, once legalization happens in their areas, and it will be interesting to see how many members use that potential!

This is being done here now. There are a few groups that have set up consultation and plan/build options. From advising how/what/etc to turn key set up.

It's nice to have professionals in their field building permitted rooms. Dealing with HVAC and Electricity stuff... or even if you want to add plumbing.

I can see properly set up and permitted grow rooms becoming a feature in more than one home.

That's what I like to hear! I plan on joining the group of members that are in the industry, too

I'd love to develop a inexpensive open source hydroponics controller. I've got some Arduino parts and have been inspired by Ksj's auto watering project. If I can cob it together i've got a friend who can program it. That's as far as I've gotten with the idea. How about you Bandit?

I have a similar idea but for the entire grow rooms. Software that can monitor and adjust grow room conditions already exists but I have an idea that expands on it I won't get into too deeply because the expanded idea doesn't exist yet. I have an RPi that I've written a few things for in Python, they're fun little boards!

I just need to round out my credentials a lil more by getting my ticket in a local organic building course.need that piece of paper then ill be fine.but assuming there is something somewhat close'ish to me then ill be one of them.im going to be involved im just not 100% as to how yet.I really just wanna grow some buds man.But if ppl wanna listen to me thats cool too.lol!!cuz once I can get a decent drying area(which i dont really have) i think the quality will triple to be honest with this living organics so that alone is a massive selling point which few will be able to offer.but i dont have the place to do it.ill remain hopeful though lol!!we'll all have to get together and have a smoke out for an afternoon and swap a few ideas..lmfao!! kidding.. :Sharing One:"AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

yeah brother bandit man,imo bro I think your right man i think a TON of ppl have the simple potential to offer a lot to a great bit of fun in the industry too man.you,Me them.us ,that other guy, an his pals.. lmfao I really do want to have a simple basic class that teaches ppl the easy way to grow some meds if they plan a small bit and have a few dollar.it can be done very easily and inexpensively too lol im stoked cant ya tell?!lmfao!!:Sharing One:

Hi Medi, The controller I'd like to build could do either a small hydro grow or a grow room. I've found lots of open source (OS) projects and commercially available products but the OS projects are under developed and most don't seem to be going anywhere and the available products start at $1,300+ without the modular devices the controller needs to run. I'd like to build a $300-$400 controller and offer modular components that you add depending on what growing technique you use.
