Dutch Passion Billy Wu's FIRST DWC HYDRO GROW - DP Auto White Widow

New seed is almost ready. Do you guys really think I should try to save it? I want a big harvest, what's my best option?

I can save it if I want to, there's new white roots coming through and she's still growing. There's a lot of dead root mass there that a bit of Sensizym or a bene tea could clean up.

Hey Billy, its always going to be in the back of your head"what i had just gone with the new one?" so go with it, that we you clear up all of the doubts!!!

There's just one problem. I haven't got another bubbler bucket to put my fresh seed in and I don't want to waste it :(

Improvise!! For every problem there is a solution!

Here are some of my DIY solutions. You can very easily swap them around with a little care at this age, so go
ahead and do it!

Here some Ikea hacks from cheap tupperware/sandwich box

And for 1.55euros I had 3L worth of popcorn and a nice little bucket. Perfect combo of munchies and DWC gear. This is the best deal I've found so far.

Just remember to lightproof everything with whatever you have lying around

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I've removed the other plant from the bucket and planted my new seed. It popped it's tap root through the seed casing yesterday :)
I could've saved the other one, a lot of new white roots were growing through the mesh pot in place of the old roots. I did however feel that the plant was too small and stunted to give me the end result I want. For that reason I decided to scrap it outright and start again.

I'll have some pics up soon when things get going.

Here are a few pictures of the first white widow just before I scrapped her a couple of days ago. Like I said, she could've been saved easily enough but I want a strong start for the biggest plant possible :)

Day 1 update

The new white widow seedling has just come up through the rockwool. That was actually pretty quick :) 3 days to germinate, other one was 5-6.

First week res:

40ml Voodoo Juice
80mL Formulex
6mL CalPlex

EC is at 0.8, pH is at a consistent and stable 5.5.

Guys I'm having some problems here. My seedling isn't growing :/

I have no idea why, it's about day 13 now and she's barely grown at all...

My pH has been consistent at 5.5 from day 1, my EC has been consistent at 0.8 with the correct feed in it, res temps have been 64-68F, tent temps are at 75-80F with 40% RH. I seriously have no friggin' idea why the hell it's not growing and it's looking like I'm going to have to restart yet again.
The roots aren't in the res, so I raised the water level to see if that helps.

Hey Billy, I'm currently on my first DWC grow so I'm sure someone more experienced will pop by to help soon. The PH and EC sound right mate the only thing I can think of is that the cube is maybe too high in the netpot to be receiving any food. When filling the netpot put 1-2" of pebbles then places the rockwool on top, fill all around the edges with more pebbles and as she grows you can put another top layer on to completely fill. You want to avoid any holes for light to travel through, that res will have less problems if it remains light tight. Hopefully as you said raising the water level will work but check out Seymour's Starryder thread, it shows in depth how to get a seed started in dwc :peace:

have you been hand watering do this until the roots it the water :karma Cloud:

yes dwc dose take a bit longer to take off but you will get there
