Hello Folks,
Just like peoples opinion on quiet extraction fans my space needs approx 115cfm.
Is it better to buy a large fan and run it at a lower speed?
Thanks EP3.

Yoooo EP3,

Lets get this growing started ;)

For what I’ve gathered in my bro research it’s better to have a larger fan running with a dimmer so you can control it and leave it half the speed most of the time it will save some power and some noise to your ears , also for carbon filters I’ve read that for better smell extraction is to have the air flow at a lower rate to allow the carbon filter to work instead of cranking up the speed, always with the minimum cfms for the air renewal and take into consideration the filter and specially 90o bends on ducts for the fan power.

Deff get a bigger fan you can run it slow and you have plenty left when it gets hot in summer you can crank it up i have 10inch way bigger then i needed but it was well handy in all this heat we had

I think I have a 700 ccf fan (6 inch), thats running at 1/3 of max speed. I think that's definitely the way to go.

Also I guess this will be inside the tent? An option could be to place it outside somewhere to also reduce nose if that type of arrangement is possible.

What size is your space? How many bends in your ducting?

Imo it's better to run an appropriate sized fan for your space. AC infinity Cloud line models have a controller that manages the speed based on temperature/humidity. Amazon product

Only got 1m x 0.6m x 2.4m

Around 50cfm for that space to replace the air every minute. If we calculate heat, ducting with bends, and a carbon filter - around 120cfm are needed. Grow rooms need between 1-5 air exchanges per minute so if you go for 3, you only need 40cfm.

Ac infinity fan that I linked would be perfect for that space. It would run at 50% with 1 air exchange per minute or roughly 30% with 1 air exchange every 3 minutes.
