Thanks WW!
Alright guys the word is in and the Deep Cheese is a great smoke! First cheese I ever smoked, and I'm gonna add this to my grow again list for sure!
So the first one I chopped turned out fantastically with nice and tight buds. But the other one, the one I fim'd, turned out really airy and not as good looking! It started foxtailing and never got dense nor ambering. It went about 2 weeks longer and never started ambering in the trics. What gives? 2 plants exact same environment and exact same feed and schedule. One turned out awesome, one I'm a bit ashamed of. Had to harvest it before it was ripe - even though it went 2 weeks longer I had to cut it down before it was ready. Even worse is I was really looking forward to that FIM'd plant and now it turned out worse. I've done a bit of research, and the reasons that I've found to cause fox-tailing is: high heat, maybe high humidity, too much N in flowering, and some say too much P.
My temps never got over 83 the entire grow. My humility I've been letting float about.. never lower than 40% and more typically around 50-60% RH through the entire cycle. Too much N I don't think can't be possible because the flowering nutes that I use have a very low N ratio. And too much P... well maybe. I've been using bloom boosters in flowering - in careful amounts. I think it's either RH or P with the bloom boosters. But why only one plant? Hmm. I was so disappointed in the end result of that plant I didn't even take any pics.
If anyone has any input on foxtails, I'd love to hear it. I know some people say there's nothing wrong with foxtailing... but when your plant doesn't finish when it's supposed to and acts like it's going back into veg, how is that a good thing?
