Mephisto Genetics Autotron does Mephisto Sour Crack & Sour Hound - Kindsoil, 200-1000W MH/HPS

I'm all caught up Autotron. Over all a fantastic grow. You'll be smoking those ladies for a long time to come. Looking back through everything, looks like we had similiar issues, albeit, you caught and handled yours much quicker and better then I did. The big 2 for me were cal mag def and a lack of pk to finish flowering. You handled it well. As far as @Ripper question. The largest improvement in my growing has to be switching from tap to distilled water. That said, congrats on the harvest! :slap:

Thanks bro! Good to know!

I used tap water(we have good quality tap water here, no chloramine in it) that I bubbled for a day or two to gas off chlorine and let sit still for another day or two. I'd then add whatever minimal supplements I was using and ph it to 6.4-6.7 with Earth Juice crystals.
I would say it was likely cal mag the problem with kind soil is you have to use the ca mg+ from general organically and you want the one that is 0-0-0 I had those brown spots as well a few times. I have never really nailed down what caused it

Kind Soil eh? yeah its a problem usually.usually needs amendments for a full performance soil imo. Ive grown quite a bit and unless they changed their recipe its gonna need flowering and some cal mag. more flowering usually. it a def in the flowering range is what Ive seen.some mild cal mag additives but mild in comparison though. I would prep a top coating prior to sowing.then apply when stretch is about over. small teas and added lime and a solid inoculate for the boost it will eventually loos. thats another issue too,the life tapering off or dying from lack of available foods. to it needs nurturing to say the least but its better than other ways Ive seen.

Just dropped three Sour Crack and one Sour Hound for what will hopefully be a quick tasty run! Here's my setup:

Tent size - 4'x4' with carbon filter and Vortex fan.

Lighting - I have an adjustable 400w digital ballast and an adjustable 1000w digital ballast. Both made by iPower and can be adjusted to 50/75/100% power. I aim to stick with only the 400w, but we'll see how it goes.

Pot size - 3 gallon fabric smart pots

Nutrients - Organic grow. Half a 5 pound bag of Kindsoil in bottom of each pot for 2.5 pounds in each pot, covered with straight Roots Organic. Seeds placed directly in Rapid Rooter plug placed into center of pot and lightly watered with tap water left to sit for a week to gas off chlorine and pH'ed to 6.5 with lemon juice(I'm going to get Earth Crystals as recommended). I also put in some Great White to give the soil life a boost.

This is my first time using super soil of any kind. I read through the entire Kindsoil forum before starting. On the site, they recommend three pounds per pot for autos, but I feel like even 2.5 pounds is a lot for this pot size and such small, fast strains. 2.5 lbs fills up half the pot easily. I was worried about putting too little in though and suffering in flower. I'm hoping I don't get any burning of the plants.

What do you guys think is a good amount of Kindsoil for a 3 gallon smart pot for such small fast strains? I was tempted to put even a quarter or third of a bag in each pot, but thought I should play it by the book, given this is my first time using it.

I'll be back in a couple weeks to update this grow with pics and news, once I see something substantial.
I did a ks test use 1/3 per pot. so 3 pots per bag of ks, in 3 gal.
check out my ks test

@Pops can you give me the reader's digest version of how it went? I used half a bag per 3 gallon pot and still had issues. Kind of surprising to me that it's marketed toward photo plants, as I would imagine they'd exhaust the nutes much earlier with that longer life cycle.

@Eyes on Fire

I'm really into this idea of amending the soil in early flower/stretch with the Roots/Aurora Uprising Bloom dry nutrients. It's all organic and from reading the ingredients, it looks like all the stuff you'd typically put in a homemade super soil. That of course begs the question "why even bother with Kindsoil, why not make your own?". I have all the stuff to make one(see my separate thread in organics subforum on Subcool recipe), but never got around to making it. I fear it's too late to make it with cold weather approaching, as it won't have the temps to cook properly outside for the 1-3 months it needs. Do you really need the high temps? Could you put it in a basement for example at ~55F and have enough heat to keep the bacteria healthy? I seem to recall compost heaps doing fine during the cold weather when I was younger and generating their own heat.

I am all about adding life to the soil frequently. I hit these with Great White, Recharge and Mammoth P often, but like you said, if there's out of appropriate organic material to digest and swap for sugars with the roots, it's not of much use.

If you get a heating pad and put it under a tub you can cook your soil pretty well.. I am just using the Mephisto amendment now one badge does 10 pots

Is great white organic?

Strictly speaking, I don't think so. It's not OMRI listed. No chemicals or sketchy shit in it though. It's basically just microorganisms in stasis. You know how fine that line can be with some nutes. However it will undoubtedly boost the shit out of your organic grow. I sprinkle some around the hole where I drop my seeds into the final pot and they sprout vigorously in 2-3 days instead of 4-6. The roots are insane when I empty my pots after a grow. Tons of dense feeder roots everywhere. I strongly recommend this over any other single beneficial bacteria/microbe/fungus inoculant based on my experience. Read up on it a bit, it's worth it, trust me!

the biggest problem most people had was with water ph or water quality I used a 5 gal w/air stones 24/7 my ph from tap is 7.0 my soil ph was 6.5 to 6.9.
