Just wanted to look back on this grow and see what I've learned from it and share some of my opinions on various aspects of it.
For starters, let's talk about the Kindsoil. As you can see from this journal, I experienced some issues with fan leaves rusting or yellowing and drying up. I'm not entirely sure where the fault for this lies, as some plants experienced this badly and some barely at all. It may have been two separate issues too. My best guess is that the rusty leaves were a Cal-Mag deficiency and that the yellowing, withering fan leaves were due to insufficient macronutrients. At the end of the day though, I think the yields and bud quality were great. Just kind of a difference from using nutes where you can hit them with something to help. From now on, I will definitely be adding low doses of General Organics Cal-Mag on a regular basis starting at about 20 days.
As far as the strains themselves, they were a pleasure to grow and had a productive and efficient structure. I really didn't have to do any training with them, just putting a short tomato cage on the pots to keep them contained. They still all had a strong central cola and tall hearty side branches, especially the Sour Hound. They weren't sprawling all over the place like some others have. They responded well to defoliation.
Fungus gnats were an issue. I tried everything from fly paper to diatemaceous earth. The only thing that really got rid of them instead of just reducing them was the mosquito dunks recommended by
@derek420colorado and
@coolbunny1234 . Thanks so more turning me on to them guys! I now use them at the very beginning when I add soil to the pots and I haven't seen a single one since.
The supplements I used sparingly at various times were: Great White, Recharge, Mammoth P, Big Bloom and organic kelp extract. When I went to clean out the pots after harvest, I couldn't believe how dense and expansive the roots were throughout the whole pot. I think the Great White and Recharge helped with that especially. All of these supplements are natural and none of them contain any appreciable amount of nutrients, so I think they definitely serve to boost beneficial life in your soil and align with an organic approach to growing.
I'm interested in hearing other's thoughts or ideas on some of these topics.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped me along the way, you offered valuable advice that I used and benefited from! Looking forward to sharing my ongoing Kindsoil grow with everyone in my next thread. I currently have a DP Night Queen almost ready to chop and a DP Durban Poison, Euphoria, Glueberry OG, HSO UK Cheese, Fastbuds Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] and Mephisto Ripley's OG going. I'll add the link here once I get it started.
