Mephisto Genetics Autotron does Mephisto Sour Crack & Sour Hound - Kindsoil, 200-1000W MH/HPS

If that is as close as you can see then you really can’t see the trich heads. I think you probably have lots of amber heads that you just can’t see. I haven’t seen any meph plant go that long without lots of amber

That's some super helpful advice, thanks man! I had kind of been thinking along the same lines. One other theory I had was that the built-in lights in the microscope may have been so bright that they were making it harder to see the actual amber. Regardless, a few days ago I ordered a 30/60/90x jeweler type loupe/magnifier that should be here tomorrow.

Oh you will be able to see a crazy difference

I looked at my Fastbuds Blackberry with my new scope and found about 10% amber trichomes on it, so it got the chop today too at 89 days old. I think the new scope did help out in this respect. Thanks for the advice @derek420colorado !

Sour Livers went into the jars yesterday morning after 3 days in paper bags hanging from the top of the tent. They were pretty dry when I took them out, the humidity was at about 52% after an hour in the jars, so I stuck a Boveda 62% pack in each of the four mason jars just in case. I don't think they got so dry that they won't cure, but I like to play it safe. The humidity has since risen into the safe zone. I'll post a final weight once it's ready.

The second Sour Crack has settled in at 39.5 grams after slowly curing it down to 62% humidity. This one is a little more diesel-like and pungent than the first small one. Smells very similar to the Sour Hound. Both are solid flavorful smoke and vapor though. Very satisfied with the quality of them.

Lol so I am guessing your previous plants all had a pretty indica buzz and couch lock lol but yeah being able to see into the trich head is critical to harvesting when you know it’s ripe

Great Job!!!

The total weight for the Sour Livers came out to 77 grams. A nice haul as far as I'm concerned! I grow solely for personal use, so I'm quite happy with anything in the neighborhood of two ounces. The buds are fairly sparse and the smell isn't really there. As of now, I'm attributing this to user error though. I definitely plan to give this strain a run in the near future to hopefully capture the elusive ultra dank odor this strain is supposed to carry.

I still have an absolutely gorgeous Night Queen in the tent that will come down within the next few days to week, but I'll save that for the new thread I'll start in the Indoor Grow Journals sub-forum.

I'm going to do a little "post mortem" of this grow in another post in this thread later today or tomorrow and then consider this grow finished from a Mephisto perspective.

Just wanted to look back on this grow and see what I've learned from it and share some of my opinions on various aspects of it.

For starters, let's talk about the Kindsoil. As you can see from this journal, I experienced some issues with fan leaves rusting or yellowing and drying up. I'm not entirely sure where the fault for this lies, as some plants experienced this badly and some barely at all. It may have been two separate issues too. My best guess is that the rusty leaves were a Cal-Mag deficiency and that the yellowing, withering fan leaves were due to insufficient macronutrients. At the end of the day though, I think the yields and bud quality were great. Just kind of a difference from using nutes where you can hit them with something to help. From now on, I will definitely be adding low doses of General Organics Cal-Mag on a regular basis starting at about 20 days.

As far as the strains themselves, they were a pleasure to grow and had a productive and efficient structure. I really didn't have to do any training with them, just putting a short tomato cage on the pots to keep them contained. They still all had a strong central cola and tall hearty side branches, especially the Sour Hound. They weren't sprawling all over the place like some others have. They responded well to defoliation.

Fungus gnats were an issue. I tried everything from fly paper to diatemaceous earth. The only thing that really got rid of them instead of just reducing them was the mosquito dunks recommended by @derek420colorado and @coolbunny1234 . Thanks so more turning me on to them guys! I now use them at the very beginning when I add soil to the pots and I haven't seen a single one since.

The supplements I used sparingly at various times were: Great White, Recharge, Mammoth P, Big Bloom and organic kelp extract. When I went to clean out the pots after harvest, I couldn't believe how dense and expansive the roots were throughout the whole pot. I think the Great White and Recharge helped with that especially. All of these supplements are natural and none of them contain any appreciable amount of nutrients, so I think they definitely serve to boost beneficial life in your soil and align with an organic approach to growing.

I'm interested in hearing other's thoughts or ideas on some of these topics.

Thanks so much to everyone who helped me along the way, you offered valuable advice that I used and benefited from! Looking forward to sharing my ongoing Kindsoil grow with everyone in my next thread. I currently have a DP Night Queen almost ready to chop and a DP Durban Poison, Euphoria, Glueberry OG, HSO UK Cheese, Fastbuds Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] and Mephisto Ripley's OG going. I'll add the link here once I get it started.

Was reading through another thread of a Kindsoil grow by @Noob420 and saw some of the comments there. Left me wondering if perhaps I had a Phosphorus deficiency? Inspired me to think about ordering a sample pack of the Foundation/Grow/Bloom dry soil amendments by Aurora/Roots.

Just wanna tag some former and current Kindsoil users to get their thoughts on this grow...

I didn’t read backwards what water did you use?

I'm all caught up Autotron. Over all a fantastic grow. You'll be smoking those ladies for a long time to come. Looking back through everything, looks like we had similiar issues, albeit, you caught and handled yours much quicker and better then I did. The big 2 for me were cal mag def and a lack of pk to finish flowering. You handled it well. As far as @Ripper question. The largest improvement in my growing has to be switching from tap to distilled water. That said, congrats on the harvest! :slap:

I didn’t read backwards what water did you use?

I used tap water(we have good quality tap water here, no chloramine in it) that I bubbled for a day or two to gas off chlorine and let sit still for another day or two. I'd then add whatever minimal supplements I was using and ph it to 6.4-6.7 with Earth Juice crystals.
