I am thinking about using Octopots to grow cannabis autoflower plants from seeds. I am concerned that the amount of time required for the tap root to reach the nutrient solution may stunt the growth and not allow ample veg time. What is the communities experience with this? How long does it take for the tap root to reach the nutrient solution?

You will need to top water for a couple of weeks.

The Octopot site clearly states to top water "only once" so the tap root will seek the reservoir. Has this been show to not work for autoflowers? Thanks

You may only need to water once in two weeks?

I grew an autoflower. It worked fine. I top watered 1/2 gallon only once, then planted the seed in the moist coco. Then I filled the reservoir to the lowest level, and the water wicks up from the reservoir as the roots eventually grow down. It works. I kept the seedling covered with a plastic cup for about a week. I didn't have to add more to the reservoir until 6 days later, and again at day 14. No top watering needed after the initial time at planting.
