Hi Habitual :)

The CXA3070 were the the forerunner to the CXB3590 and will grow some nice weed, it just that the CXB is a more powerful chip.
My current COB is a CXB3590 with a heatpipe heat sink which is fan cooled so it could fit in my micro cab as it was the best form factor in that space.
I haven't used any CXA3070's and I have only recently dipped my toes in to the Cree COBs so I don't have a answer to what the lowest mA drive is before is turns off.I use a dimmable constant current driver and in the seedling stage was running at 70mA and in veg and flower I bumped it up to the full 1400mA.
I will be doing a lot of reseach to find answer to questions like these but I currently have a lot of behind the scenes work which is keeping me very busy.
When we do get the new LED section up and running there will be a team of HT members looking into different ways we can help members with questions like these.
The average rule of thumb with LED is 25W per squacoulot but I like to push that higher but over 50 wats per square foot your probably getting to the limit of useable light but that also depends on the efficiency of the diode and how they are run Photons vs heat.
I would like to run passive heat sinks in my next build due to the efficiency of the Cree cobs and we all need a little bit of heat or we be using heater in the winter.
Lenses are very heavy and not cheap, more popular choice are reflectors , in my micro cab i don't have a reflector due to the closeness of my COB to my plant, without a reflector the CXB3590 has a 120 degree spread!

Thanks

arty
I am running a brand new Tasty led T42100 you guys check it out and get back to me on what ypu think about it 300 watt light COB with 90 degree deflectors. I would like your guys opinion on it if you do not mind

Hi derek :)

If you want to give me your money, i'll take it :)

When the new and improved LED section is up and running I would like to see a DIY LED section where we can help each other out and show people how they can build there own light if they want to.

I will be building a another light (possibly two) later this year and will do a step by step tutorial so people can follow along.

There will also be help understanding all the jargon, it really can be quite easy to build a basic COB light with the right help and support, whcih we plan to give our members.

Oh just remembered some one asking where is the best place to find out how to make a DIY COB - Growmau5 on youtube, watch his vids he has inspired many people to build LED COB lights, and that includes me too.
