ph is is just a reading of acidity, if the ph swings it just shows signs of your root systems activity

ill give you an example

ph going up

if ph is rising this is a good sign as it means your plants are drinking and eating so this gives you scope to tailor your feed to try and find her sweet spot and breaking point

ph going down

if the ph is going down this is a good sign your plants are excreting through their roots which could be caused by overfert or change in growth stage, also if the plants are excreting you will notice the ec increase as she exerts waste she doesn't need ready for her next phase of her lifecycle or recovering from poor grower ability

when the ph is stable your pretty much golden as their is great balance in your res

when you start looking into the activities of root functioning in relation to ph balance you can learn all kinds of stuff but I always start with a ph perfect res for a true reading from the plant

Quality post sir. Thanks for sharing.

Hey seymour,

Just wondering if u have an opinion of general hydroponics flora series nutrients. They say NASA uses it bur i dont know how true that is and im really inexperienced so dont really know what im looking for.

Also can you please have a look at my grow and provide some feeding advice. My ecs are all over the placw after a couple of days and im not sure if i should up feed in a couple of the buckets and if i do what to increase.

Thanks

Thanks

turns out my little lady was being underfed, I checked her ec today and she was down to 1.7 so ive upped her back to 2.0

no cal/mag issues or tip burn just a beautifull looking lady with some immense potential....growing doesn't look much better than this, pretty much text book for 31 days :D:

Hey seymour just wondering with ec drop how do you tell when to raise ur nutes and by how much. I have a auto blackjack. The ec was 1.0 yesterday when i did the bucket Nd today it is at 0.3. This is my only plant doing it this extreme so obviously it needs a little bit of different treatment. Should i raise ec more than my other buckets and by how much?

Hell yeah I'm subbed!! Welcome back Mr. Buds.

if the ec has dropped id be inclined to up her nutrients by .2 so aim for 1.2 and see what happens, to be a good grower YOU have to make the call and don't be ashamed of making mistakes because its the only way to learn ;)

cheers for the comments so far everyone , its appreciated

Seems just about what I've been doing. I think I may try a little extra potassium silicate if my plants recover from a recent spin-off. About carboload, just saying! I used it before with success too, but maybe summer heat, late shelf life, dunno... I think it went off and funked my mixes.

:smokebuds:

just to revisit the whole carbo-load situation again......

carboload is a sugar and by adding this to your plants they go mental its a bit like drinking a can of redbull it acts as a stimulant, the plants will go fuking crazy as they get a sugar rush effect which in truns makes them eat and drink more and because of the eating and drinking this will throw your ph off slightly cause they are craving for the nutrients BUT you do need to pay close attention to your ph levels and keep them in range

I always start off with low dosages of carbo-load around 6ml - 8ml per res and increase as they grow bigger and I also find the sugars give the plants a nice flavour, I understand what your saying about the canna boost but I do find that to be way over priced and it will do exactly the same job as carbo-load

my plant was set at ec 2.0 yesterday with a ph of 5.8 I checked her today and her ph is @ 6.2 with about 3ltrs missing in the res and her ec is down to 1.8, if I was to make an assessment id say she is having an attack of the muchies due to the effects of the sugar

this puts me in a situation of what to do next, do I increase her feed to 2.2 or do I ride it out

if I ride it out she could well start pulling from her own reserves and have what may look like tip burn but I know for a fact from my readings this is not the case it will be her craving for more nutrients to sustain growth she is already on flowering nutrients so I have 2 options

1. increase her feed to 2.2 and hope she levels out

2 keep her feed @ 2.0 but switch the pk ratio by adding pk 13/14 @ 4ml per res making her bloom feed more phosphorus and potassium rich to curb her cravings and in line with her stage of growth

im gonna choose option 2 and give her a fresh res with added pk boost, if I choose this method I will have to increase her pk every week until I hit full dosage whilst keeping my ec @ 2.0, this is a great example of switching nutrient ratios around to make them more adequate for stage of growth

I did read that this strain likes a stronger feed and she reminds heavily of my think different who had an immense appetite but instead of increasing her ec ill just make her n-p-k richer

I can tell from these early observations that this strain has major potential for big harvest that will match or maybe even better "think different"
