Auto topping thread, pushing the auto limits;)

Good day growers im a master photo and auto grower.but my passion is with autoflower seeds.i been on a mission for 5 years growing now trying diffrent methods of training on autos to see what they truly behold.truth is autos aint no diffrent to a normal plant other than they flower on there own.u can top lst supercrop and defol autos with monster results if done at the correct time.oviously every plant is diffrent so always use the seed info as a rough guide;) and a short plant can yield just as much as a tall plant;) in this thread i will show u all along the way of the true limits of autos and there true potential as i grow them for u all to see;).also if ur an auto grower who likes to push the limits,do speak up and all pics of ur autos and talk and all questions welcome on pushing the auto limits.here a few examples of the results achived topping an auto young followed by later lst.few heavy defols along the way ,gives u an army of dominant colas and a big heavy yield.and a beautiful plant.here is automazar topped and lstd;)

Aren't the leaf temps a fair bit higher with HPS than LED? That changes VPD a fair bit.
The temperature measured on the leaf surface has everything to do with the HPS vs LEDs. With LEDs the difference between ambient and leaf surface is negligible (providing the led is 12" or more above the canopy). With HPS leaf temperature measurement is significantly more important.

That was my understanding also.
That was one of the first things I had to learn when trying to understand the VPD chart. Monitoring my VPD will be one of the top parameters to monitor 100% on my next grow. I've always know about VPD, but growing outdoors, I had no control over it like I do growing canna. It just didn't come to my mind until I saw a thread about it here and the light bulb went off. There's a few apps out there to calculate your VPD, but I don't put a bunch of junk on my phone. I've a site bookmarked on the laptop.

I have tried to run according to the VPD chart and the plants did well but not me. It was very very difficult to manage the room to keep it in range and I failed as many days as I succeeded. So I stopped trying. I just try to keep RH >40% and <60% with temperatures in the normal range 68°F night 78° day. This I can do almost all of the time.

I have a perpetual grow so with plants in late flower always I rarely go over 50%rh days and 60%rh lights off. My VPD is always off. I grow the shit out of some plants though. I could go lower temp and improve the VPD but it ain't broke so...

The struggle is real. My vpd is off also but plants still grow nice even in colder temps and humidity definitely off. Struggles of growing in a cold Upper Michigan basement. Summer time the humidity is high bit I got a dehumidifier to solve that. Winter too low and my humidifier is too small to do anything. Need an upgrade on a humidifier. And maybe a lil heater for the basement also.

As the cold, dry weather approaches, my RH will drop into the high 20's and low 30 precent range. My growroom is too crowded to ad a humidifer and I've tried small units in the tent. they were more work than they were worth so I just live with it for the winter. I'll lower my temps a bit, anything to reduce transpiration a bit. Actually, a towel and a bucket of water worked better than the humidifiers did!

If you have a 4x4 tent against an exterior wall move it away a few inches if you can. If a 4x4 2 2" sheets of ISO insul board. One piece you can attach to the back of the tent with strong velcro. The other sheet cut in half and lay it on top. 4" insulation cap. And protection from the cold wall. Bet you get between 3 and 5 °

Its 68 to 70 in my tent. Just winter in upper Michigan. How it goes every winter. But I still grow plants all winter no problem. As long as it dont dip under 60 good to go. I did some work on trying to block out draft today from a window and door and I can tell a difference already in warmth down there. So that will help for now. Thanks for your advice. I have a 8x4 and Its away from all walls and windows. Just a chilly basement cuz of winter. Will still grow some bomb nugs regardless. Lol

Usually my humidity is between 40 in the winter and 60 when I'm lucky. Summer usually 70 to 80 so I run a dehumidifier then to keep it a constant 60. Its easier to control summer time and temps are perfect then
