Auto topping thread, pushing the auto limits;)

Good day growers im a master photo and auto grower.but my passion is with autoflower seeds.i been on a mission for 5 years growing now trying diffrent methods of training on autos to see what they truly behold.truth is autos aint no diffrent to a normal plant other than they flower on there own.u can top lst supercrop and defol autos with monster results if done at the correct time.oviously every plant is diffrent so always use the seed info as a rough guide;) and a short plant can yield just as much as a tall plant;) in this thread i will show u all along the way of the true limits of autos and there true potential as i grow them for u all to see;).also if ur an auto grower who likes to push the limits,do speak up and all pics of ur autos and talk and all questions welcome on pushing the auto limits.here a few examples of the results achived topping an auto young followed by later lst.few heavy defols along the way ,gives u an army of dominant colas and a big heavy yield.and a beautiful plant.here is automazar topped and lstd;)

Hi all just the thread i was looking for,i have topped autoflowers before with awsome results, but i was thinking of giving super cropping a go,would super cropping be more stressful on the plant than topping as you are basically bending, slightly breaking the branches at 4 or 6 at a time.?? Im thinking it would as your nearly breaking the stem to the point of snapping it...

If you run out of space .. there's sometimes no options!
I've done it for space reasons, but wouldn't (personally) use it as a training / production method for autos if the hight wasnt a restriction.

Doing 6 at a time sounds risky - but also depends on the plant, the setup (DWC will recover more quickly and grow more vigarously than soil)

With autos being on a pre determined life and death timer - any energy spent reocvering or reparing is time away from prodcution.
That would be my personal consideration.

Hope this helps

Yes i completely agree with you,the plant trying to recover would affect the production etc, that was my first thought,i was just curious to what an auto would do if super cropped,if its been done successfully compared to topping but by the sounds of it,not really viable for an auto. I think i will stay with topping my autos.

big fan of supercropping here although necessity was the driver in employing the method. don't think yield was afftected negatively...on the contrary evidence would suggest the colas swelled more in size due to the abuse.

Yes strain dependent but i'm og the opinion that a certain amount of stress actually benefits these weeds we grow - timing is everything mind.

supercropping a strong healhty sativa dominant auto, will not effect it 1 bit.will just laugh at u and grow back up again;) they take it better than an indica dominant auto. as a sativa grows taller and flowers for longer.happy growing ;)

wise words. timing is everything. good job. happy growing ;)

Ok great thanks for that, i was thinking of doing a comparison grow, i have three autos going atm, so i will top one, super cropp one and leave the other one alone, just for shits and giggles.....i will do weekly updates in my journal.

Hopefully you guys dont mind if I post this here, but I need some input. Its day 60, and I have to make a decision on my red devil that I think is close, and I have to go away for 9 days in 12 days so if I leave it for another 21 days will it hurt it? Or the potency? Or if I cut it then let it dry when I leave in 12 days would it be to early? I need to make this decision because I want to stop the nutrients 2 weeks before cutting and tomorrow is feed day. What does everyone think

What a dilemma! Do you have a loupe to look at the trichomes? If they are cloudy then you can harvest without much loss 10%-15%. If you harvest early will someone be available to burp your jars? I don't think they will go 21 days but maybe if the trichomes are all clear?

Oh I know lol, first grow and a last minute trip, I'm stressing lol. I have someone that could burp the jars or water, couldn't harvest though, but I think they need at least the 12 days before I leave. They are mostly clear trichoms, and there is a lot of white pistols still. I guess really I just need to wait the 12 days, but then again I need to decide if I stop the nutrients, lol.

Don't worry about stopping the nutrients many believe flushing is a myth and when I grew in soil I never flushed. If you harvest just before you leave 9 days is too long to dry in most environments suitable for drying I have never gone past 6 days with most in the 4 to 5 day range. If you get them too dry it ruins the cure!
