Auto topping thread, pushing the auto limits;)

Good day growers im a master photo and auto grower.but my passion is with autoflower seeds.i been on a mission for 5 years growing now trying diffrent methods of training on autos to see what they truly behold.truth is autos aint no diffrent to a normal plant other than they flower on there own.u can top lst supercrop and defol autos with monster results if done at the correct time.oviously every plant is diffrent so always use the seed info as a rough guide;) and a short plant can yield just as much as a tall plant;) in this thread i will show u all along the way of the true limits of autos and there true potential as i grow them for u all to see;).also if ur an auto grower who likes to push the limits,do speak up and all pics of ur autos and talk and all questions welcome on pushing the auto limits.here a few examples of the results achived topping an auto young followed by later lst.few heavy defols along the way ,gives u an army of dominant colas and a big heavy yield.and a beautiful plant.here is automazar topped and lstd;)

Here's an observation from my limited planting and topping and from what I've seen of other grows of the same plant untopped. And that is that it appears to me anecdotally (and I'll gather more data on this as time goes on) that topping the plant slows down it's flowering. However we are told that autos will flower by time, regardless so you run the risk of topping it then it might suddenly decide to move to flower mode. However I have not found this to be the case. I've found every time that other people with the same strain have buds at 4 weeks forming and my topped plants don't have that till 6 weeks. Which I repeat is a good thing. This may all be wrong and just a statistical fluke, so I wouldn't take too much from it but I might do a side by side next grow.

Yes cut between 4th and 5th. So above the 4th

Yes my limited experience of autos so far has taught me that if four pairs of branches seem to be right for me. Once I've decided that it's going to be four, then I'll make a decision based on the first pair of branches. If they look wimpy and the second pair and others look strong then I'll grow another node and remove the lower pair of branches. Which way I go depends on the plant. The first one I did I tried the first strategy and it worked well, but my next one took off out of the blocks like a bat up up a drainpipe in hell, so that was clearly not going to need an extra node.

Hello @autobeast and Everyone !

I am a first time grower, started my first grow of Gorilla Girl from Sweet Seeds, 26 days ago and is being guided by @Bigg Al and he pointed me to this thread. This first grow is Lst only so that I get to see full life cycle of auto. Here is the link

Hello ! I am a new Customer ! :D

I reached till page 38 of this thread till now .. I am really fascinated by the shear amount of knowledge shared on this thread. So, I started one more seed .. Auto Mazar from Victory seeds. On this auto mazar grow, I hope to learn the Way Of The @autobeast :worship:

Thanks.

Hello all I am new to this site as well as growing I have grown 1 blueberry with only LST and have a couple more on the go. I was reluctant to even take as much as one leaf off the plant because most myths I’ve read say any high stress training will hinder yield. I was up almost all night last night reading this post. It’s given me confidence to be able to defol my day 58blueberry as well my other is day 19 was perfect timing to experiment with a topping so I did this morning.. I am using promix BX and have Dutch nute organic grow and bloom cal mag and had just recently bought GOLD. Can anyone give advice on how to properly water autos. I’m confused because I’ve read that you should always water with 20% run off water but then I’ve read that when plants are small but in large containers you don’t want to over water. Also what about the gold. When can it be started to be applied and when should you stop folliar spray? Nice to be apart of the group and @Beast you inspire me to grow big Buddy.

The thread recommends between two and three weeks, and your girl looks healthy, which is also important, therefore you seem good to go. You need to make a personal preference decision and decide if you want to top at the third node and have three pairs, or top at the fourth node and have four pairs. Three might be easier to handle, but four is good too. To learn swimming you have to jump in the water.

Yea that's what I was thinking (Just dive in) but just do it on one plant. Take another look when I turn lights back on in couple hours.
