Auto Hacks & Tips

Zip ties and romex wire trains like a champ.

Just to clarify... I think you mean insulated solid core wire. At least, that appears (12AWG or 14AWG) what you appear to be using in your photo. Like this:

Romex is a cable containing two or more insulated wires enclosed in a plastic or rubberized sheath. Like this:

Im not sure what your trying to clarify there wasent any confusion on what was said. I'm a electrician and romex has three to four wires all but one coated solid copper wires and come in many diffrent gauges. I use 12 gauge bc that's what I have laying around and it holds shape against the pulling of the plant but is still moldable. You can use 10 gauge but it's hard to bend and difficult to work with. Im unsure as to what your confused about.

That's exactly what I wanted to clarify - using a section of Romex seems like it would be overkill (so thick!) and a lot of work to bend around everything, versus using just a single solid core wire either from a roll or extracted from a section of Romex.
And the reason I questioned it is - in your photo, it looks like you used a piece of black 14AWG wire and a piece of white 12AWG wire. Of course, it's hard to get perspective about size with nothing else in the photo to gauge it by. Perhaps that white wire is actually a section of 12/2 Romex and I just can't tell in the photo...

Your correct ones 10 gauge and ones 12 gauge. I use the thicker stuff for later on in the plants development when the stems are thick and strong. When I said romex I didn't mean use the actual romex its self still in the sheathing I meant to cut it open and use the coated wire inside all except for the ground wire. I think you just misinterpreted what I meant.

Light cycle...
With autoflowers, for ease I have always done 24/0 however some breeders recommend different cycles such as 20/4

My question.
If you were doing a light cycle of 20/4 would you do this in veg and flower, even at the seedling stage?
Or would you introduce this at a later stage, such as flower.

Reason I am questioning this, is because the maximum cycle of veg is determined by the plant as it is an auto. Thus wanting to get as much light to it as possible, although then I think that to much letter and with them having no break may introduce deficiencies easier,

Thoughts?

When do you you start training your autos? Mine are at 3 weeks 3 days from seed.
Depends on how the plant looks but usually after its about 6 inches tall. When you lie her down she will reach right back up to the light within hours. My goals always to maintain a even height and and expose all the bid sites I can to direct light. Also i cut off all lower growth not getting light and popcorn bud locations to promote bigger bud growth. You want to get her as trained as possible before she flowers bc the stems harden and it make training very difficult and they break. If you run out of room training her one way you can start to bend her into a spiral as well.

Have you ever looked into mainlining or manifolding? It's higher risk but it pays off in spades. Here's my gorilla glue that started off mainlined but I let her go a little bit after she turned out to be a photoperiod.

I've thought about maintaining but since I'm not that experienced in this with autos I haven't wanted to risk it. Had a photoperiod grow a couple years back but right as it got into flower my house got raided so I have stayed away from them up until this point.
