auto ak leaf edges curled and some purple in stems

My last couple runs had this same problem with the leaf edges curling im not sure what the exact problem is id appreciate any help. I didnt have room under my cfls for these autos when i first started them so they were started under a 600w hps at 3 foot away. I just shut off the hps and got them under a 90w led and a 105w 6500k cfl plus 2 20w floro tubes im not sure if this is enough light for all 9 plants beings there in 1 gal coco pots so im thinkin there space apart may require me to add extra light witch i dont have at the time other than hps. The medium is about not exact 60 coco 40 peat moss and about 30-40% perlite small and large chunks mixed i put very little lime in the medium when it was mixed. Ive never used a peat mix like this and not sure if i was right by mixing my coco with the peat but i was really low on coco at that moment so thats what i did to fill the pots i hope it wasnt a mistake. My temps are at 80f and humidity is between 60-70. I started with a watering of 170ppm sensical grow to help buffer the medium all my waterings ph has been between 5.6-6.0. I did water a couple times with AN iguana juice grow at 400 ppm . Btw my water starts at about 170 ppm. All the nute #s ive given are final ppm and they include the starting water ppm. My room is sealed and has c02 added to 1500ppm for 15 mins every hour. Ive got my runoff ppm down to 400. I am ten days out the ground with this grow and have never had such slow growth i dont know if its the media or i just over nuted or if its just them being autos cause this is my first auto grow. I did have this leaf curl problem with every grow in that room though and each time it straitned out the bigger they got but id like to get this problem worked out. The smallest ak seems to be deformed or sumtin but ot is the only one like this. Over half the aks also have some purplein on the stems i got some dinafems cheeses in there with them and they all look great its just the g13 aks that r giving me trouble. I am in a 4x7x7 tent and was wondering if i had room to add more than the 9 autos i got in there now with all of them being lst'd since i only got about 2 1/2 - 3 feet head room for the plants to grow with the lights and tray taking up so much room. All help will be greatly appreciated being im still tryin to get all the kinks worked out of my room and technique of growing

Why did you turn off the hps thats ideal for 9 plants
Hps if fine to use in veg
you may have light shock from changing spectrums
80f sounds high
you in peat coco next time either use compost or soiless
Ph is a bit low for a soil grow id up to 6.2
they are a bit young for nutes but adding peat i have no idea how much food is in the medium
I dont want to offend you but your playing with advanced kit and it seem to me you dont have the exp to use it start more simple then work up because youve added so many randoms at once you have not got a clue where your weak link is.

why did you add lime to a near soiless medium that really going to mess with the ph buffers in your hydro organic solution

Do they flatten out at "night" time? If they do it's a symptom of too much light/heat

Personally, I think you'd be better of with 50/50 of Peat moss and perlite. Coco is already 6.0 pH so adding lime to prevent Ca Def is a no-no because the ph will freak out. You'd be better of amending with gypsum.

Yep, that's right. I would increase the feeding pH to 6.5.

I would enforce sensical grow instead of Iguana. Coco is high on K and low on Ca and Mg. You don't need to add any K in there it will screw your coco cation buffer

He should not have to amend at a media level if his nutrient is buffered correctly and his ph is still to low like i said for organic and looking at his product its not listed for hydro so lacks the essential minerals and your pretty much using a soiless mix

if he had hydro nutes coir would have been ideal

ph should not be lower in any soil or organic grow than 6.0 max and closer to 6.5

Yeah, but all coir products have extremely high K and low Ca amounts, so it's critical to add a source of Ca to improve the Calcium uptake. He clearly added lime to increase the Ca content of the coir, not to buffer it's pH, I believe.

The watering pH should be increased, I think so too.

I am glad I read this post because I was about to do a no-no. I just mixed up a batch of new soil the other day using Roots Organics/SS#4 (half/half). Did a slurry yesterday and the ph of the mix came out @ 6.1. Iwas about to add lime to up the ph but was to lazy at the time to do it. Me being lazy saved me a lot of time and money. Yeayuhhh!! Maybe that's why my last grow didn't work. I limed my coco and my ph was all crazy. I bet a lot don't know that lime is bad for coco.

Its not really that its bad for coco its just bad for soiless mix , soiless mix requires hydroponic feed as theres no background minerals there as its vitually nutrient free and the ph is adjusted by the fert as your using nutrient that work at 5.3-6.2 there are buffers in this medium and feed to bring a lower ph so in effect fighting each other. If you used the above with the right nutrient you would have had no issues there

im sure lime would be ok for soil and organic nutes as theres not the same reactions going on there plenty of soil mixes with coco george cervantes video on you tube has him making some up with it but the ph would normally be on the 6.1-6.8 side as you want the life to break down the lime for uptake and they can not take extremes in PH. You can still use coir in soil but it need to have compost soil in a 50%+ there to provide background minerals and some people would find this an advantage as some base tap water is high in ph so the coir would pull the nutient down to the right ph (think mines around 8)

So in effect you where doing hydroponics with soil nutrients using the wrong PH for nutrient as well

hugo is quoting the coco info on a faq online
which has no controls on baseline tap water or which blends of compost or fert where used so what it says on there and real world results will differ greatly when one aspect is changed

Indeed, archaic is using 60% coco and 40% peat, and then from that he added 30% perlite (neutral), so in his mix coco is higly predominant. That's why adding lime to his soil was not a good idea.

On your mix I wouldn't add anything. SS 4 is very complete and already has lime in it. Roots organic Potting soil I dunno what it's in there but you should be ok with a 50/50 mix. So overall I believe you did well not adding any lime.

@ agito: even with hydro nutes you're better off adding some Ca buffer to coco, because if you don't, whenever you feed you would be losing some Ca and Mg to balance the cation exchange and only the surplus would go to plant uptake.
