Grow Room Anyone build out a grow in an "under stair case" closet?

I always custom built my tents out of PVC pipe and panda film. Makes it easier to have the perfectly sized tent, especially when you're trying to squeeze it into an unconventional space. Easy as hell to DIY.

One time I ran a 1200w bare bulb vert room under a staircase, before eventually converting it over to a veg and mother room.

If stealth is a priority definitely go with the 4" AC infinity. They're real quiet. I ran a 6" old school inline in that room and the noise was pretty loud on the stairs lol. I had to custom build a silencer for that big fan to keep it discrete

When I converted that Staircase space over to a veg / motherroom, I basically just made two tents to account for the sloping ceiling.
In the back Tent at the shortest part of the ceiling I had LEDs and T5s for clones mother's and early veg. That space had a ceiling less than 4' and could only be accessed through the taller tent. But my staircase had a much steeper sloping 'ceiling' then yours.

In the taller portion of the tent I had my HIDs vegging bigger stuff. Basically just like a normal tent just a little cramped. Alot of tip toeing and playing Tetris with plants to walk through that space but it worked well. Your space sounds like a good one you will just need to get a little creative.

Thanks! Would have been nice if the door was on the side instead of the end too... oh well.. ill have to work with it!

Yeah that is really the only awkward part about a room under a staircase. I'm 6'4 but I managed to make it work in a space smaller than yours. But it was also the most unique and difficult space I've worked in.

I set up a vertical bulb stadium and tied the girls back to the walls. It opened up the center of the room as a walking path if I raised the bare bulbs up.

If you are running a more standard room with Overhead light, you are going to want to be able to easily move containers around as you navigate through the room. It's going to be very tight.

The thing that I found most useful when watering small awkward spaces is a long watering wand. I hooked it up to a cheap transfer pump and used a heavy duty tote as the reservoir. With one of those watering wands if you are standing in the center of your room you should be able to reach all the plants while working. And you'll be able to reach most of them without having to actually walk through the tent.

I can't emphasize enough how much the transfer pump and watering wand helped working in small, full, awkward rooms. A 3-4 foot wand plus the length of your arm gives you a ton of reach

It sounds like you used to run alot more space than you have access to now. Are you planning to pack this tent full of lights and maximize yield from this space? If you are just casually running a couple plants untrained you won't have to treat it any difference from a regular room. But if you're running a bunch of plants,
training, and maximizing yield per square foot there are definitely more considerations in such an awkward space.:pass:

Im just going to be doing 2-4 plants depending on size...The right strain will fill 9 sqaure feet easily so i have to chose wisely and a few of the strains i haven't run in the past ( some mephisto and some rocbud) so its going to be interesting.. I'm not trying to fill the space up, I dont need to really and that would be a nightmare lol
I'm probably going to use 4 at most of my auto cobs and they lights are easily moved around so that should be ok Im thinking maybe using 12-15 sq feet of the space so I have plenty of room to navigate.. im not a little guy either and hefting a bunch of 7 gallon pots full of saturated soil really disagrees with the old back injury.. Now I just need to figure out what im going to put down to cover the carpet and whether or not I can put up a makeshift door inside the space to place a filter on the intake like I normally do in my tents.. I hate fuzz and hair on my buds!!!

Covering the carpet, hmmmm. The only redneck thing I can think of at the moment would be to just get some of the thick poly plastic, I cover my wood piles with it, cut it to the measurements of the floor but add 6 inches on all sides. Then you could just lay it out and curl it up the sides, it would protect the carpet. Maybe don't add any extra on the end where the door is and you could put some gorilla tape over that so it stays down and you could still roll your plant out without and obstructions.

Don't use poly on your floors if you plan to walk through the room often or keep the space running for more than 1 run. It won't hold up and when it fails you probably won't notice.

Heavy duty pondliner is the way

Well.. ive gotten a little further... I have my ac infinity carbon scrubber and 6 inch fan in place .. painted all the walls and ceiling with semigloss enamel (yeah i know semigloss isnt as reflective as flat but it also doesnt grow molds as easily and is more water resistant), and im covering the fresh paint with reflective bubble insulation whatever its called.. reflectix? where ever lights hits... Anyhow... Just have to put a plywood floor or something down, then paint that... then decide if I want to seal it with a second door and use a filter for the intake.. That would involve cutting a square in the inside second door to install a 20x20 filter in.. When I get some of that done, Ill post pics.. Dont hold your breath though..
