Live Stoner Chat Anybody grow like Mr. Canucks Grow from YouTube?

Thanks, yeah that's one of the ways I took from his explanations. What throws me off is on one of the videos he says he does the 444 mix in the coco, then a mix of the 444 and 394 at 4 weeks of flowering as a top dressing, which 4 weeks of flowering isn't counting how many weeks he vegged for so thats much longer than 3 weeks. He mentions it's the first feeding since day 1.

Then 1 more top dressing at a later time, and those were all he fed. That being only 2 top dressing feedings through the entire grow, the other method would have more than 2 top dressing feedings.

The idea is you want the nutrients to run out for the last couple weeks so u can flush em.

For a quick flowering auto you may only need 2 feeds.

Initial soil amendments lasts a month and then the top dress will get you another month leaving a couple weeks to flush if you have a 10 week grow.

I will add that his method causes alot of issues around here for new growers who think they can just follow along. Lots of posts here with questions and problems and few answers most times as it's not a popular method.

The problem is that he is a seasoned grower and knows how to read his plants. He uses teas and other additives at times when the plants need it but he doesn't mention that often. There was a vid where he had issues and shows how he adds other nutrients to his organic grows.

When I grew my first with his method I used Promix instead and it went ok, but I did end up with a serious cal mag deficiency near the end.

I also ended up with a serious case of fungus gnats so be careful. They love wet stinky organic soil! I have had 2 friends run into fungus gnats using this stuff as well which wasn't an issue with Coco and GH nutes. Just be careful!

I ended up sticking to the Coco For Cannabis Coco/General Hydroponics setup as I feel I have more control and the ability to flush anytime. There is also a ton of info out there and many growers using the same stuff which is not the case with the Mr. Canuck method.

I will agree he makes it look and sound easier than it has been in reality. I'm around day 26 now and currently battling fungus gnats. I have yellow cards up that catch 2-4 a day, watered with a little neem oil, sprinkled some mosquito dunks, and have nematodes coming tomorrow. Hopefully I can get them under control before they get too crazy.

I guess it has something to do with the decaying organic matter attracting them.

Like I said it seems most people I know who try this end up with at least a small fungus gnat issue.

If you catch em early it's not the end of the world but still frustrating.

Try a layer of a half inch of sand. That and the nemotodes and sticky traps was the key to mine and a friend's ussues.

Another Mr Canuck-style grow here. My first grow, 4x4 tent, four 3-gallon fabric pots; four different strains, Dr Earth dry amendments, plus nematodes from seedling stage. Going great so far, a few hiccups. But as well as it's gone so far, I agree with the previous cautions: He is an advanced grower and knows tons that, I, for example, couldn't hope to know at this point as a newbie. I'm 7 weeks in and just now feel confident that I've got watering dialed in.

After looking around at different methods, this seemed to be the most basic and easy for me to follow. I've done organic vegetable gardening for a few years, so it was familiar. That may be different for other folks, but after all these years, I know my brain pretty well. :D

Luckily I have places like this to show and tell, get help and hopefully help somebody else.

For a long time he said 6.5-6.8 but semi recently changed to saying 6.0-6.5. First grow I stayed around 6.4-6.7 and had some issues as well but I underfed for my scenario too.

I'm on day 23 of the second grow and have been staying between 6.1 and 6.4 with much better results so far.
