Alright guys the "purge" is in process for this solventless extract experiment.. Since this is using water as an "agent",this is safe to do indoors lets roll thru some pics and descriptions and we will see how the final return compares with some of the other processes View attachment 714892this was the jar this morning with olive oil..oh oh!?! The oil has pooled back togetherView attachment 714891these are quart size jars,i chose not to chop the bud. Its an experiment and i didnt want the fine particles to breach the filterView attachment 714894the buds were frozen overnight to minimize chlorophyll pickup( maybe a moot point since the water was not chilled)View attachment 714893 gotta have a cuppa!! I think the cup would look better with an AW/AFN Logo.. Hmmmmm....View attachment 714895 filters soaked in the 11.5 water to reduce the filter from "soaking up any extra oil".. The buds were covered and shaken for approx 1 minute each then poured into the filtersView attachment 714896 may be hard to see in this pic but i had a few filter failures and had to refilter a few times View attachment 714897the water is poured thru the fine steel mesh into the filters,at this point it was a wait for the last filter to empty outView attachment 714898this is what i call filter hash and since this was a water extract, its prolly similar to a "bubble hash" extract if the 11.5 water did not dissolve the husk of the triches to get the oil out..i will collect and smoke this and give a reportView attachment 714900the liquid is now on a double boil/water bath to stabilize the temp and evap the waterView attachment 714901the temp here is in the range for the best terp and flavor if this was an eth extract this would be perfect, since its water and a first attempt i will take the temp to about 120F .... Nothing left to do but wait... Another update soon.....

Thanks for the tag bro! Iv seen this GOB method with hash ! This looks like something I'd be very interested in!!

Thanks for the shout brother! This is an intriguing technique. From the pictures, it does appear the water emulsified the oil more than normal.

How did the leftover material look? Did it look like most of the trichomes got removed? Are you planning on drying it for inspection/smoke test?
Hold on and ill get a super close up with an olo clip( gotta get it from my daughter)...

Interesting. I've been thinking extractions, but haven't quite gotten to that yet.

Keep it up you mad botanist!!
Thanks bro!! Ill try(almost) anything once... The hash/edible section is filled with plenty of quick and easy ways to exteact.. When your ready, just tag any of us and we will help, lots of great people here!!

I'm a little lost? Can you explain what the the olive oil is suppose to do? Sorry if you posted it somewhere. Just woke up lol!

What's actually extracting the trichs? The oil or the water? Or is it a combination of the both?
I'm assuming you purge untill the water evaporates, then scrap up what's left over, is that then smokeable goodness or is there more steps to follow?
Definitely saving this and giving it ago when I have the material seems to simply and easy

All good bro, this was used as a comparison just to see if the olive oil would be imusified by the 11.5 water.. The reason there are 2 pics is,i combined and shook it up last night, left till this morning just to see if the oil would stay emulsified...it didnt

Oh kay lol I got you now lol! But the run you exactly did was with the 11.5 water right?

The olive oil was a comparison experiment to see if the 11.5 water would keep it( the oil) emusified over night.. The experiment itself is using just the 11.5 water and the flowers/buds.. The high pH is doing the work of removing the trichs.. Yes purge/evap the water and what is left will be a smokable product.. I can tell from the way its purging that it will likely not be an amber/honey colored oil.. Heres a few more pics of the material the first pic show the mayerial i started with.. The material used..and the amount of water frim a full one gallon jug

this is the material in the bowl after the process was done, comparatively, an eth extract would have thichs left as well

three super closeups of what is left on the material.. This will be/can be used for another process to finish removing any left over oils

Yes.. Only 11.5 water.. Safe to purge indoors.. Still have about another 30-40 minutes till the water is purged.. The purge process takes longer than eth/everclear but is a safer alternative. I guess the hazard would be spilling the hot water on yourself or dropping the pan on your toe..
