Is the scrog more of a support system for autos or does it actually work like it does for photos? Asking for a friend

basically same thing as LST without tying stuff down and training the plants to grow sideways so the branches at the nodes can have more light.the branches grow up to the screen and than you tuck them under and lay them sideways.I like the screen much better cause you can make the top buds sit where you want them.you just poke a bud thru a hole and it grows up.You can fill in the area you want and once the screen is filled in thats it.LST is alot more work IMO but does make for cool points and cool pics.here are some pics of a scrog i did on 6 plants under a 1000W HPS all grown in dirt.first pic is day before i dropped a screen on em and pushed em all down.than i sorted out all the tops and the colas all grow thru the screen holes.It reduces grow height and flattens the canopy to direct all your light to just tops.I got almost 2 lbs off 6 plants.These were photos.
I have been wanting to scrog autos in DWC for a while.

day 17
well i noticed my tops were only get about 31k LUX at 18 inches and suspected my ballast was going out.I switched to a backup and was the same.Looking up at the bulb i kinda noticed it was laying sideways the way i screwed it in so i backed it out of the socket so the flat part inside the bulb laid flat.as soon as i did that i hit 50k LUX at the top of plants at 18 inches..Using MH bulb.so i guess the position of the bulb changes how much light hits the canopy.I noticed it changed when i swapped hoods and put the MH bulb in the raptor.good to know..PPM 780 and PH creeped up to 6.0.No changes made today on anything.Just watching them grow.

Day 18
looks like things on the up and up.I should start to see hairs any day now.I have been looking and none yet.usually i get em around 25 days but had a blue dream before not get em for 45 days so well see.seeds are popping out of the sour diesel now.It was a selfed cross of humboldt auto Green Crack and Dinafem Sour diesel.I really hated the germination on those dinafem seeds but the plants i get are always real nice.Always consistent.This was my best sour diesel and best Green crack selfed.Theres over 500 seeds on the sour diesel.The Northern express has not popped any out yet.Theres not a calyx on that plant that dont have a seed in it.Not sure how the fuck the whole plant got pollinated.i crossed Blackberry Kush,green crack,and White widow BB into that plant so its all kinds of mixed up.pretty much it for today.

seeds so far off 1 cola that i pollinated first.minus 3 i dropped on the floor and 1 in the pot.I really cant wait to sprout the seeds off of the Northern express auto.Thats one the best smelling prettiest plants ive grown in a very long time.I got lucky on that plant,

Day 19
everything on the up and up.Still no hairs.About 5 inches from the bottom of where the screen is gonna be so this is about to get good.pushing 900ppm (1.8 ec) and Ph drifting from 5.6 to 6.1 at the highest.The calcium issue went away completely after i dropped the PH to a better range.6.3 was just to high for these plants.anywho things are good.still hoping to get over a pound off these two plants.Its looking better each day.
I put in a shot of one of the buds from the blackberry kush that finally finished after 80 days.That grow sucked ass.Had some micro issues with RO water and bad soil from fox farms.the PH was all over the place in them pots.anyway thats over and behind me.

Going DWC on that run also and see what i can get under 2k of HPS.

its a recirculating.comes out the bottom of buckets via the 1 1/2 " pipe.Pump pulls it from center to the water chiller and back to pour back into the top of the buckets.tommorrow im adding a control bucket to the mix.Its getting harder to lift the buckets to check the stats so im gonna add in a dummy bucket just for checking the up and up.
I was pushing 900 PPM but noticed slight tip burning so backed it off back down to 800.These plants will tell you what they are cool with.
day 21 and i put the 600w HPS on.a couple more days ill put the screen back up and start filling it in with limbs.tops are about 3 inches from where the screen is gonna be.
No hairs yet.

Day 22,
got the dummy bucket put in today or control bucket.definitly makes everything nicer to check the stats of the water without lifting the plants.would have been impossible once the plants hit the scrog.basically water pulls from the control bucket at the bottom and goes thru the 2 plant buckets.than it goes thru the pump thru a wall into a water chiller and than back to the control bucket.Everything recirculates.
All the stuff i bought from lowes for less than 100 bucks minus the buckets and pumps and air compressor.This system is deffinitly the nicest ive ran.plants are super healthy and roots are ghost white.Not much change in water conditions.these plants should start flowering any day now.
First thing was hooking up the flow line to the pump from the last buckets in the run,

next to get the lines ran to the control bucket.This is where the water runs under current.this is basically a copy of current cultures under current.They want a grand for a 2 bucket setup.There out of there minds.for a few buckets and some PVC pipe.Like i said i have about 250 in everything including the pumps and etc.

got all the under current stuff ran including the drain line.this is nice to have when u need to dump the system and reset it.takes about a min to drain 12 gallons.

got everything hooked up and filled.water recirculates under the plants and back to the control bucket.It takes about 4 minutes after i add a nute for the PPM to get to the same number in all 3 buckets with a 250GPH pump.250 divided by 12 is about 20 circulations per hour.i also am running a 45L per hour air pump.these plants are in plant heaven.

water pours from the chiller into this bucket with a T that dumps on both sides and also adds air to this bucket.plants were stressed from sitting in shitty buckets while i was doing all this.took about 3 hrs total.

water chiller on other side of wall.I dont like it in the same room cause it jacks with the humidity.One less thing i have to deal with.

Got the scrog net back up since this is it.gonna start bending and tucking as it grows into the net.

a few hrs later and back to normal.they are loving this setup.

check out the size of a fan leaf up towards the top.I imagine they will double this size before i cut everything below the net and lollypop this thing.thats all for today.
