New Grower AFN Communal Competition thread

Well..pidgeons are starting to arrive on doorsteps...

so it is time to open the Original JEM competition thread.

This thread will be open to all the AFN Members who have bought Original JEM...
and members who buy the White JEM selection released on 20th September.

We will be having Prizes...Grow Tips...and a bit of FUN...:booya:

You can use this thread as a full grow thread..or drop your girls in once a week from your own grow threads.

I will be awarding a Seed Prize once a week from when the thread kicks off fully..
until Christmas...

I will Nominate a subject once a week...and you will be asked to Vote...by pressing the Like button..whether the person nominated to get the Prize deserves it..
or not..

Bit Evil I know...but it should be Fun..coz Likes can be added and taken away...so you can keep your Buds guessing..

To make it Fair on growers of all different abilities...prizes will be awarded for different catagories..such as

* Best New Grower..

* Best Grow Tip...

* Best smoke report...

etc..etc..so prizes are Not just shipped out to the most experienced growers..
although...

I'm sure there Will be best Bud photos later in the grow..coz we all have greedy Bud eyes....


JEM has been around for a while so there is plenty of Good Solid grow information on her..:thumbs:

with that in mind..

I will be asking some of the growers that know her well and have grown her out in different conditions to pass on their Tips and Tricks to help you get the Best out of her.

This is something totally New to Site..that we hope you Enjoy...
IF it goes well and you enjoy it..we will see about Extending it.

The Wizards KISS JEM

I Like my JEM Simple...like Me.....

I GROW OUTDOOR...IN MULTIPLE PHENO POTS.

I germ straight into the compo..in a Large pot...with a 12 inch drop.

I use Universal(Europe) Potting(US) compost..no added ferts..direct from the garden centre..stealthy..cheap and covert..

Print out this formular panel..and take it to the garden centre with you..then you know what to get...
don't say it is written in spanish...coz it is easy enough to understand..

I have used load of different shapes and sizes of pots..
But..
I would recommend SQAURE pots for multiple grows because it is easier to space out your girls..
also...
12 inch drop is My minimum requirement..

My most Important piece of kit is my Digital PH meter...and my second most important is my
air-stone.

If your water PH is not right..the plant will not perform to her best..and any expensive ferts you buy will not be absorbed anyway..so the PH meter comes First.

Plants need light water and oxygen...so the air-stone is my second most important piece of kit.

Ferts....
I feed the JEM a 50% dilute Veg feed @ day 10-12...and another around 4 days later.

After sex..I will feed them 50% dilute veg feed twice a week until around 8 weeks..
then the last week is pure water flushes.

Wiz has set the pace and i am here to follow, I bring you the White selection on the original JEM.

Methods to my madness....

Like Wiz said general compost is key with no added ferts. Any thing along the lines of cow compost or mushroom compost. These all are sold at the local home improvement store near you.

In my indoor method there are a few things that are key to give the plant the best run that it can have.

Compost
Perlite
FoxFarm Trio
Digital pH pen
Air stone and Amended water

Compost and Perlite : Mix the two together well, get the two of them blended as much as you can. This will assist in getting oxygen to the roots in the heavier compost.

The white JEM CAN make it to sex with out any ferts. This is the way that they have been selected. For ease of Meds for the user. Once the plants have sexed you can feed.

Trio : At sign of sex, water of 50% diluted of label of grow Big. Do this ever other water for a week.

Flower Set : once you see the buds set its time to hit with tiger bloom. Warning shit will burn your plants. Check the water with that pH pen BEFORE you feed. Water every other water for a week with TB at 50% dilute.

this should take care of the feed needs of them. If the plant looks like it needs more then it will need more. Most selections have made it through to flower and harvest on compo and tap water.

Air Stone and amended water:

This is where it is people :thumbs: Make sure that this is on point and the plants will respond to anything you do to them. this is also what you need to water with when you are not feeding. This will keep the soil pH in check and keep the plant healthy and yield well.

well folks here are (possibly - though Im guessing a few beans have been sown lately so who knows...) the smallest and newest members to the JEM family. Super small still but made me super smile when I saw them before :booya:. Plan on having a cple indoors and some outdoors (starting all under lights though). Have got a compst/perlite mix started out the back and will have to get another air pump to make sure I have enough aerated water on hand at all times. I feel more like a member of the AFN family now and plan to treat these like family - though I can be an arsehole at times to my family so here's hoping I can stay on the good side of these!!

hhmmm - I think I'll be dreaming about JEMS tonight!!

I just hope I can do these girls (being optimistic but wont mind some pollen) justice. I was a bit worried cause I had em in a paper towel for a bit and werent seeming to do much and since Id had to ph down a fair bit with lime juice, well too much, then had to ph up with coffee grounds with the water I used to soak the towell resulting in a bit smelly water I thought I had doomed them (like I just did to the english language with that hurried sentence!) So very happy to see em pop up.

Am now stoked to be also adding some PAK to the mix - huge thanks on that one - I must admit I have had my eye on them for when available in the shop so I guess I can now browse and buy something else, hhmmm some Whites I think to get more of the set - woohoo!! more autos!!!

Cheers folks and I hope those of you that have received yr JEMS lately or do so soon have all the germinating karma in the world. We will all have to have a multi-national JEM and/or :smokebuds:when we all have our harvest in - I think Wiz and all those involved with the eshop and general AFN breeding bonanza will be smiling as much as us to know the joy of the JEMS will hopefully be well and truely spread across the globe in the coming months!
