Thanks for checking in, everyone. Cap, please sub because the way this grow has started out, I'll probably need all the advice I can get.
A few quick updates after spending some time with the plants today:
The droopy leaves was mainly due to the girls being thirsty when I took the pics, and they've perked up now. The pH issues are definitely not helping matters though, and L3V3R I think you're right on that some of the leaf twisting and deformities are a sign that things are off. Today I made a slurry with some distilled water and Happy Frog right out of the bag, and it came out below 5.
That explains why I'm still seeing such low runoff even though I buffered with dolomite when I did the initial mix. I had considered switching to Promix before this grow and I really regret not doing it. I've had enough with the pH issues with
soils, so I think this will be my last grow using them. And the other day Captain Cure was saying that his shop has pulled the products altogether due to root aphid problems, so that's the last thing I need with everything else that's going on...
Checking things with the scope this morning I saw more calyxes with pistils on both of the Snowryders, so I'm going to call those female. Unfortunately, both of the Bad Bettys had some preflowers that look suspiciously male under the 30x scope, but I'll give them some more time to be sure. That leaves the PAK as the last unknown reg seed, and I couldn't find any indications either way. I'll wait until I'm sure on all these plants before planning my next move. I may end up germing a couple of fem seeds that I have on hand if I end up with only 3 plants left out of my initial 8. I had planned to be out of the country in early June, but that trip looks like it will be postponed so I may have more time to extend this grow. But I won't add more plants unless I have a soil mix that I'm happy with and if I get the heat issues in my tent resolved.
I'm really starting to think that I shouldn't have changed both my soil mix and my lighting setup at once. I usually like to keep things simple & this time I may have put too many new variables in the mix. My last grow went so smoothly that I could have saved myself a chunk of cash and a lot of headaches if I would have just duplicated it again. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be harvesting some killer bud that will remove any regrets I may have. :smoke:
