Indoor AB's latest grow log - Launch of the Badboy!

They look very good and healthy Andy  if anything the leaves may be a little droopy but as I'm sure you already know that could be because of your low PH. I'm sure as soon as you get it back up they will perk up as well. Can't wait to see these bad girls start shooting pistils. Don't
Mind if I sub do you? :smokebuds:

Dang Andy. Sorry to hear of your troubles. They seem to keep hanging on you. They really do look good considering the problems and what not. Are you still using that bathroom fan for the exhaust?

Squid, as of now I've got the new 400cfm fan in there with the speed reduced since I don't need to move that much air. I'm still experimenting with some different things to get the airflow how I need it.

Right on. So would you say a proper inline grow fan would be better than getting the Airking bathroom fan?

Yea there's a formulation to figure out the cfm you need. I was givin a 6" inline fan with a carbon filter from a friend that runs the local shop here. According to the formula it should work tho I should of most likely got the 8" to be safer but there's a difference between free and 400$ :p Length x width x height. Tho I suppose if your growing 10 very skunky strains that could play a factor in total smel removal.

Thanks for checking in, everyone. Cap, please sub because the way this grow has started out, I'll probably need all the advice I can get. :help: A few quick updates after spending some time with the plants today:

The droopy leaves was mainly due to the girls being thirsty when I took the pics, and they've perked up now. The pH issues are definitely not helping matters though, and L3V3R I think you're right on that some of the leaf twisting and deformities are a sign that things are off. Today I made a slurry with some distilled water and Happy Frog right out of the bag, and it came out below 5. :cuss: That explains why I'm still seeing such low runoff even though I buffered with dolomite when I did the initial mix. I had considered switching to Promix before this grow and I really regret not doing it. I've had enough with the pH issues with FF soils, so I think this will be my last grow using them. And the other day Captain Cure was saying that his shop has pulled the products altogether due to root aphid problems, so that's the last thing I need with everything else that's going on...

Checking things with the scope this morning I saw more calyxes with pistils on both of the Snowryders, so I'm going to call those female. Unfortunately, both of the Bad Bettys had some preflowers that look suspiciously male under the 30x scope, but I'll give them some more time to be sure. That leaves the PAK as the last unknown reg seed, and I couldn't find any indications either way. I'll wait until I'm sure on all these plants before planning my next move. I may end up germing a couple of fem seeds that I have on hand if I end up with only 3 plants left out of my initial 8. I had planned to be out of the country in early June, but that trip looks like it will be postponed so I may have more time to extend this grow. But I won't add more plants unless I have a soil mix that I'm happy with and if I get the heat issues in my tent resolved.

I'm really starting to think that I shouldn't have changed both my soil mix and my lighting setup at once. I usually like to keep things simple & this time I may have put too many new variables in the mix. My last grow went so smoothly that I could have saved myself a chunk of cash and a lot of headaches if I would have just duplicated it again. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be harvesting some killer bud that will remove any regrets I may have. :smoke:

Hey AndyBeans :smokebuds:

Sorry to hear about the issues bro, but it sounds like you're well on your way to getting them sorted. Karma sent hombre :smokeit:

Right on. So would you say a proper inline grow fan would be better than getting the Airking bathroom fan?

Well, the Air King is $30 and the fan/controller combo was $120, so that's a pretty big cost difference. The Air King moves 90cfm which is plenty for a small space, and it worked great for my previous grows. But as I mentioned earlier, I think the tight fit between my T5 light and the sides of the tent is causing me some problems, especially when negative pressure pulls in the sides of the tent. The air a foot above the light is at least 10 degrees cooler than the air below due to the hot air getting trapped by the fixture. I didn't have this problem before because I used two 2' fixtures that were staggered and left plenty of room for the heat to rise away from the plants. Today I connected my drying box to the intake of the tent to force cooler air into the lighted area, and it's kept things right around 77-78 degrees. The inline fan is still strong enough to create negative pressure so I shouldn't have any odor problems even with the powered intake. But I hate the fact that I now have to run two fans to keep things at a reasonable temperature, so I'm going to keep experimenting.

What a bummer. :( I hope you find some kind of solution quick. That must be damn aggravating.

Is there any way to put something in between the fixture and the tent to keep the neg pressure from closing the tent around the light like say maybe for example Popsicle sticks or something along that line?

Yeah I was thinking that too L3V3R. Something that will bow the ten out around the light so air can get up to the fan. Like a hoola hoop! haha. I think I will be ok with my smaller light instead of that bigger BadBoy you have, and having that smaller fan too. Plus I planned on putting my fan nearer the bottom so it will grab all the hot air. Is there a way you could have your filter inside and you pull air through it with the Air King, Andy? Like from filter, though the fan and then more duct to the outside. Instead of pulling air into the fan first, Then into the filter and out through duct...? Thanks Andy, I know you'll eventually figure it out as frustrating as that is especially after having such good results with the last grow. Good grow vibes sent your way brother.
