Indoor AB Fills the Tent!

Getting their grow on brother!! Now that there is some foliage out, the should take off for ya!! Looking great man! Any theories on the leaf twisties and small mutations?? I get that alot on my babies and would like to know what causes it.

Looking good bro! Nute time coming soon then they are really going to take off!

Yeah, they loved that first taste of nutes so I can't wait to see how they do when I bump up the dosage. I need to figure out my own version of TaNg's schedule since he gives food a little bit everyday. I don't have time for that so I am soaking the pot every 2-3 days. I will probably just keep upping the nutes until I see signs that they've had too much.

Andy my last run I modified Tangs method to work well without feeding everyday.. I fed every 2-3 days but straight watering in between to make sure the airpot didnt dry out ever. Works real well as long as you use a no waste method. However, its the amounts you have to play around with. I usually only feed 1/2 a liter for the first 4 weeks and then move to a full liter after that.. Looking good my brother :Sharing One:

I'm really stumped. I have had it sometimes and it doesn't usually affect all the plants in the tent. They always grow out of it and do fine but I also wish I knew the cause. pH is often a culprit for twisting but I am good to go there. The curling is usually said to be heat but my tent has never gotten over 82 degrees and is usually a few degrees less. I have had other grows where temps were routinely 85-92 and did not see the curling, so who knows? Humidity is well over 60% so no issues there either. I'm sure it's some combination of environment and genetics, but at this point there's really not anything more I can do about it. The newest leaves look flat and perfect & it always seems to be those first few fans that exhibit the weirdness.

Thanks, Dub. After running 6 plants last time, I have a pretty good handle on watering these 3g EZ Roots pots with Sunshine Advanced #4 soil. If the medium is not bone dry, around 1 liter/4 cups will get me close to the point where I see a few drops of runoff. So I will keep going with that amount or a little less during feedings and then supplement with plain water if needed to keep the pot from getting too dry. It works out well since I can mix up one gallon of nutes and it's enough to feed all three plants, assuming I can keep them all on the same schedule.

Those types of "mutations" are very common in plants and animals that are as prolific as cannabis is.
Most plants will grow out of it, and my observations in cannabis, is that it generally does not effect growth.
If anything, those plants tend to be bushy.

Back again for a quick update. Unfortunately the Syrup is still a mess & it's clear that the the early strange growth was not due to being trapped in the shell, but simply a bad seed. I have had pretty good luck with not getting too many mutants over the years, so I guess I was due for one. Over the weekend I decided to germ a 3 year old Pakistan Ryder seed I had on hand as an insurance policy, and after a few days it has cracked and I can see white inside, but the taproot has not emerged. Unless it shows today I won't plant that one as I don't want to mess around with another one with potential problems. I don't have time to gamble with reg seeds right now, but I do have a few other fems on hand as well as my BOM seeds arriving this week. I need to decide pretty quick if I am going to add one more to the tent. Otherwise things are going well and both the big girls showed sex around day 16, so we're off and running!

Day 19

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture377349-tent-day19.jpg

Syrup - Lot's of chaotic growth on this one. It's hard to see, but in the second pic you may be able to make out where the main stalk has split in 2 like it's topped itself. A lot of the leaves are coming out upside down and twisted, and while they eventually correct themselves, the plant is wasting a lot of energy on it. No smell or signs of sex yet, but at this point there's no harm in leaving her in the tent and seeing what she does.

ADP - She's almost a foot tall already and is shaping up to be a big gal. I love Durban and this plant was the main reason for this grow, so I'm very happy with the progress. She has an unbelievably strong cat piss smell already, which usually means good things for potency, but it's not something you want to be sticking your nose in!

OAA - She's a little behind the Durban but looking happy and healthy. Nice skunky smell and lots of pistils popping out.

Thanks for checking in, friends!

Time for a short photo update. The gals are a bit droopy as these were taken right before lights out, but things are going just fine. After all the chasing of my tail that I did last go round, it's nice to have a worry-free grow this time (knock on wood...) Massive vegetative growth this week as everything has more than doubled in size. Still working through TaNg's feed schedule with a few modifications. I had some signs of early mg deficiency so I began adding CaMg to my feeding last week instead of waiting until full flower as the schedule indicates. Other than that I have been pushing them with the nutes and they've responded well. The Syrup showed a bit of burning on the tips so the last two feedings I have diluted the usual mixture with 50% water and it seems to be holding steady. I also germed a Mephisto Sour Crack as an insurance policy in case the Syrup doesn't produce well, and it sprouted a couple of days ago. After seeing that BOM winner, I figured I'd give this strain a try due to it's fast finishing properties.

Day 26

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture379204-tent-day26.jpg

Syrup - Surprisingly, the mutant has settled down and seems to be mostly producing normal growth. As you can see in the second pic, it split into 2 main stalks with a 3rd smaller one that is out of view. That could mean a nice harvest if they all form large colas, but as of yet no sign of pistils so the waiting continues.

ADP - This one has been growing like crazy and is around 22" tall already. Really good structure that will hopefully start filling with bud very soon. The main cola is starting to form, so I hope she slows down with the vertical growth soon. If she grows another foot this week, I will have to tie down the main stalk.

OAA - Growing well at around 19" tall and starting to form some flower clusters. Really nice old school skunky smell from this gal.

Sour Crack - Two days old and stuck in the corner of the tent with her big sisters. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Mephisto genetics grow out.

Take care, friends! :tiphat:

Botwin !! this looks good !!!
what is your camera! it takes magical pictures!

Admit you work as paparazzi !!! :niceshot::xlaugh:
great work m8 !!! :kusht::Cheers me Dears:

Thanks for the kind words, Superweed! Hopefully as they flower I will be able to take some better pics. Unfortunately I am usually tending the plants late at night after a long day, so I don't have the patience or energy to do much other than snap a few quickies. One day I will make time to set up the tripod and get some nice trich pics.

Hi everyone. Back again with a little more detailed update. The plants are doing fine and even the mutant Syrup is looking quite well. I took the pics below a couple of days ago at day 33, so we're now at day 35 and I am getting close to flushing the ADP and OAA. The vertical growth has slowed down somewhat this week but I need to put the tape measure to them to see if I should switch to bloom nutes or give them one more veg feeding.

Speaking of the feeding, I thought I'd spend a little time talking about exactly what I've done. I am using 5g bottles of water from the RO machine at my local grocery store, and doing no pH adjusting at all. The AN pH Perfect nutes seem to be working well as my soil is staying in the mid 6s according to my trusty Accurate 8 soil meter. I am using TaNg's feeding schedule as seen below (all amounts listed are per 1 US gallon). I give nutes with every watering, which works out to be every 2-3 days. I am using Sunshine Advanced #4 soil mix in 3g pots, and I know from experience that I need to give around 40-50oz of water to saturate the pot without getting runoff. The only real deviation from the schedule below is that I saw a touch of mag deficiency starting, so I have been adding 4ml of calmag to the mix since somewhere around day 21. Other than that, I have followed the schedule as shown and the plants have done great. I should also mention that the Syrup was getting a little burn on the tips, which isn't surprising as it's got some weird genetics going on and the mutants often can't handle full feedings. I handled that by feeding my two large plants first and then diluting the remaining solution with water. So the Syrup got a couple of feedings at 1/2 of the amounts listed, then at around 2/3, and last feeding I went back to full strength. The plant looks a bit droopy on the tent cam, so I may need to back off again.

So at this point I will soon be flushing the two largest plants and switching to flower nutes. I plan to run around 9g of water + FloraKleen through the 3g pots and then resume the schedule. Obviously I am close to a week behind TaNg's schedule so I will just go by watching how the plants respond to determine how quickly to up the nutrient dosage.

AN Nutrients Schedule

Days 1 to 10 - plain tap water

Days 10 to 15
- 4ml Sensi Grow A, 4ml Sensi Grow B, 4ml Voodoo Juice.

Day 33

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture381120-tent-day33.jpg

BSS - So the self-topping mutant really took off this week and grew to around 24" tall. She's been a light eater recently, but I am trying to bump it up to get the most vegging I can. She did not show pistils until day 29, but is making up for it by throwing them out all over the place. I still see some oddball twisted leaves & the structure is unusual, but I now have hope that this one will provide a decent harvest.

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture381130-bss-day33-3.jpg

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture381131-bss-day33-4.jpg

ADP - Still charging ahead at near 30" tall but thankfully slowing down the pace. Lots of buds starting up and she still reeks of cat piss. Put this one in the room with your kitty litter box and there's no need for a carbon filter!

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture381122-adp-day33-2.jpg

andybotwin-albums-ab-picture381123-adp-day33-3.jpg

OAA - Just and inch or two shorter than the Durban and just as healthy. Really skunky smell with lots of bud sites forming, so no complaints here.

Sour Crack - Day 9 for this one so she'll be getting her first dose of nutes in the coming days. She's been a bit neglected off in the corner of the tent, but hopefully she'll pick up steam and start packing on the foliage.
