Word of warning- this post is a bit long and makes for a depressing read.

Let me introduce myself. Ive been an AFNer for a while now- I'm a watcher and learner more than a teacher. But i know a fair bit by now and have tagged along with a load of great grows.
Im no longer in the noob department.
I've also been an avid fan of DP for a number of years.

But over the last year my past glory has turned into a complete nightmare.

Just over a year ago i decided to change from Autos and try to run DP's power plant- Supposedly one of their most stable strains.
My conditions are all pretty stable.
Temps of 25/29c - Good Led Light- Good air flow- Light nute schedule- good soil.

All three PP's went full Banana on me.....YIKES i thought- bummer -
but i took the hit.
I had taken a bit of a risk with Photos.
i got stung. But i moved on quickly.
Nature rules in the end i figured.

4 months pass as i shut off for a few cold months of the winter.

OK- Spring comes- time to get back on track.
I run with a pair of TD's and some CC's... Something old/something new right....

WRONG!!!!

Both TD's produce Ball sacks which fully open and pollinate the remaining CC's.
I didn't even think Autos could Hermie- but i was clearly wrong on that.

Now I'm starting to sweat. My supplies are pretty much finished- i rely on my meds to help with various sleep related issues.

So i bung in 3 ANQ's to Germinate whilst i take apart my space- fully bleach it all.

Im now 35 days into my ANQ grow.
This morning i take them out into the daylight for a full inspection.
Low and behold-ANOTHER PAIR OF HERMIES!!!!!!
No pollen this time but the two hermies are a completely different shape (stretched with minor bud development). I break of a cylax or two and yep- there they are- mini seeds ripening instead of bud!

The remaining plant is looking good- but I'm not exactly confident with nearly a years worth of Hermies on my hands....

Needless to say- My DP Days are over.
Ive seen a number of grows on here going Tits up (or Balls up?).
To add to all this nightmare- Tony has been totally dicking me around saying DP would send me some seeds to say sorry.... then these seeds suddenly disappeared in the post (great so my address is now marked??)

Truth is- i don't want any free seeds now.
I've totally lost confidence in DP and talking to a few other reliable sources on here, I'm not alone.

Im sad to have to post such negative account having witnessed success in my beginnings - but this forum is designed for exactly this.

To spread honest experiences.

Sadly mine is not a good one... A year of energy/money/love/risk/commitment down the pan-
and most stressfully- I'm now out of herb

:baghead:

Gah - that's a punch in the face!! Hmmmm

Before growing again in that area (and you may have already done this) I'd completely sterilise and disinfect the tent with some warm water and detol. Kills 99.9% of bacteria :D (couldnt resist the marketing plug)

But if there's rogue pollen in the tent ... it could turn your girls into ... seeded girls?

Just a thought, an option, an idea!
Hope it helps!

Blue ^_^

Were all the seeds that hermied supposed to be female?

Hey thanks for the thoughts - can feel a little lost out here in Hermiville at times.

Yes Namvet- the seeds were all fems - Power Plant (the start of my ball ache) then ThinkDifferent/ Collarado Cookie (AUTOS) and last but not least my AutoNight Queens - upon closer inspection the third and final hope out of the ANQ's is also seeded. Calyx on them all contain small seeds. This in turn leads to lack of bud development. And the cycle goes on.

I did fully bleach my grow space after last situation. But the reality is that I'm in a loft space. Although my small grow area is kept clean and sterile, there is a large space behind it thats got a load of dust and crap that would be near impossible to fully sterilise even with a good weeks worth of cleaning.

The last ANQs never even produced pollen (although i realised they had seeded quite early at day 30) so maybe they would have gone on to pollinate if left alone??
But the Calyx's all had seeds in them.

I dunno- its just caused me so much stress over the last year- I'm really loathed to chuck in the towel having invested a lot of time and money into getting a set up to support myself.
I'm faced with the reality that maybe my growing days are over for now.
Back to street weed which is a truly depressing prospect.
I just can't justify taking the risks that are involved only to end up with a seeded shitty end result.
Doesn't make sense.

:nono:

Sorry to here about your trouble.I'm also growing DP colorado cookies and night queen so i hope they don't hermie on me.Don't give up there are many more breeders with great genetics like mephisto, dinafem, sweet seeds, and many more to try.

My friend!
It seems that you are talking from the inside of me!!!
I've had this problem in the last year too.
I grew something like 100 DP plants, and something like 60 of em turned hermie!
I had BlueAutomazar, Autoblueberry, TD and awhite Widow feminized.
I have to say that your location is such the same as mine...i work in a loft which hasxa lot of dust, even if i grew some Barney's seeds and they didn't turn hermie.
Not even one on 40 of them!
That's why I thought that it was something with my growing methods, but reading something around in the forums and articles like yours, i realized that there is maybe something wrong with their auto genetics.
I don't know.
Anyway i love their genetics so i'm keeping it going now, but this will be the last try for me.
Then i'll move to other genetics to see if it's my fault or not.
Peace

I gave up on DP honestly. I had like 300 bucks worth of seeds either hermie or non germ. They played the country card on me and never bothered to arrange 3rd party shipping or replace. I also won a weight contest where I was supposed to get a ass load of seeds and they copped out n that too. They can go fuck themselves.

I honestly have to say that they are always kind with me.
Their mail service is always fast and exhaustive.
Another important thing I forgot to say is that sometimes i keep hermies in the tent, just controlling pollen sacs and removing em before they burst.
For example right now i'm running 6 BAM and 4 of em are hermies.
I'll let u know what happens in late flower.

Didn't mean for this thread to become a DP slagging match...
Reality is that i have had great success with DP for a number of years and no problems until i had a PPlant pollinate. Since then I've had straight hermies for over a year.
I guess its kinda my own fault for straying the AUTO route (worst mistake of my grow life)

Talking with MediGrower the other day and he pointed out that its almost statistically impossible that the Hermie problems are seed related- or else every one on the forum would be reporting Hermies left right and centre- and thats clearly not the case.

So either i was incredibly unlucky or there is something in my setup thats creating the problems.
As stated before all the obvious conditions are stable- Temp/Air/Nutes/Soil/Light.

Which only really left me with two options.
Seeds or Pollen . Well logic would suggest than pollen must be the answer and there is quite a bit of information/Misinformation floating about (no pun intended).....

Needless to say- i've fully stripped my space of all reflective materials, Rebleached the area, new wall materials, More spraying (I'm hesitant to spray liquid onto my lights- or into the fans in the lights- but i guess i probably need to do this as there is defo a possibility of pollen contamination in the fans).

Now i pray for no more balls.
Does anyone know how long pollen stays active for??
My latest seeded ANQ's didn't produce any pollen or Bananas, but the Calyx have small mini seeds in them. There is also a lot of alternate info about these mini seeds. My guess is that given time they will ripen up and grow to be proper seeds, but some people suggest that they never mature and are harmless??
Anyone else had any experience with mini green seeds in the calyx ???

Onwards and upwards- defeat isn't an option.

I am not saying this is fact but could it be too many generations of fem-ing one strain?
I only like regulars(boy/girl). I understand the benefits of only growing girls but regulars are what I like in seeds.

Also, if you grow later other breeders strains and still hermie, I question if plant stress in your grow and is a contributor.
