Indoor A newbies Grow Journal ... from it's Genesis to it's Rapture

I saw that on your grow journal.
Loved the idea.

The risk I see from that is the rebar, after being cut-to-fit, potentially provides multiple risks to puncturing the mylar where the cut rebar meets grow tent, in the corners.

Does that make sense?
How did you overcome this?

EDIT:
What I am trying to say is ...

If I cut-to-measure a roll of rebar, to the dimensions of a grow tent, most times I'm not going to be cutting to the PRECISE place the rebar is a perfectly 'finshed' square ... and what I will be doing is cutting at a point where the rebar is a single wire, and all I have done is fashioned myself a lethal weapon.

Does that make my question any clearer?
Or am I just going OTT and muddying the waters?

I have a nice cordless grinder, all the cuts are smoothed, and on 2 sides the rebar is bent over and around the horizontal top poles with no contact with the tent material possible. For extra safety, I guess I could have wrapped some Gorilla tape (this is another indispensable grow item http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/reviews/a4006/4306415/ ) around the ends, but I didn't see any need, or some silicone airline for that matter.

At your convenience ... if it is not too much trouble ... what are the chances of you taking a pic of those smoothed joins and bent over rebar?

Please?

I, for one, would love a pic to go along with the above explanation, and I suspect anyone who is reading this, would also really appreciate the 'visual' confirmation of the imagined.

Yeah, no problem........I'll get some pics

DEAR DIARY:

Suggestions from AFN so far...

  • reconsider stance on odor control.
  • clean room thoroughly and look at dehumidifiers to eliminate any risk of damp becoming mold.
  • ventilation gear OUTSIDE tent.
  • look for tent options specifically with roof vents.
  • put gorilla tape on list of 'must have accessories'.

How about adding some watt meters to the list, they are usefull for checking the LED actual power consumption, and total power consumption for a grow all gear included. I don't care for the GPW measure, total WPG is much more relevant to me.

It's probably one of those luxury items I was possibly going to keep on the growing list for further down the line.
Not sure.
Never considered it for the maiden indoor adventure ... but will now :)

DEAR DIARY:

Other equipment being seriously considered...

Why?
  • IP44 rated, so its water resistant.
  • has inbuilt thermostat.
  • eco-friendly.
  • specifically designed for greenhouse or shed environment.
  • easy to fit in tent environment.
  • not space hungry.

As requested, I can't really get any pics of the smoothed ends at the top, they are resting on the poles with the tent fabric going over, and short of dismantling the tent, it's an x-ray or something job.... But I have no concerns or worries over that..... And If push comes to showe, a piece of guerilla tape will deal with that.....
