Breaking ground

Out of the 6 seeds soaked and then planted, now have 4 up out of the ground.
Hoping for the other 2 some time later today.

The whole tray of six:

The other kind of breaking ground

This is the breaking ground when I get out before dawn with a big sack of soil mix and a spade,
down to the garden site to dig some holes and drop the mix in and get out quickly and unnoticed.
The soil mix was some second hand local potting mix that house mate feebly sprouted a few lettuces in before abandoning it.
It already had some extra perlite and vermiculite added to it, threw in some dolomite lime, and some water crystals.
I have some AN Sensi Bloom A&B on the way, which is pH perfect, plus cal-mag (in N) at 1-0-0.
When it gets here, I'm going to do a pre-soak of the sites with that, and the natural rains will wash it all in nicely.
And after it sits a couple of weeks, the seedlings will be big and strong enough to transplant out.

Nothing like a bit of garden digging work before dawn.
There were monkeys nearby. They were actually already there the afternoon and night before.
No photos.................. of garden, holes or monkeys.

Good stuff maria! Good luck with number six, and good luck making it to and from your site! Please do upload some nature shots if you are able to. Its always great to some local flora and fauna!

Thanks for the support!! Some photos below.
Wish I could have shown some monkey photos,
they were all over this area the last couple of days.
A troupe of about 20, big adult males, females with babies, and juveniles.

Day 1 - Mandala Safari Mix

I'm going to call today Day 1 for all of them for convenience, even though they popped over a couple of days.
It will also mean that they are exactly 3 weeks behind the Early Top Tao. Easier to remember their age.......

5/6 have popped the soil. Couldn't help myself, and dug a little around the 6th one. It's germed, just slow. :D
[HASHTAG]#5[/HASHTAG] is showing a bit of helmet-head, which I softened with a spray of water, so should drop soon.

Sorry my photos won't realign up, have tried a bunch of stuff, but you get the idea.

All looking pretty good really. I planted the seeds slightly deeper than I have in the past.
Someone wrote here, forget who, maybe @TaNg, that if you plant a little deeper, then the push out of the soil takes the seed case off.
Which may be true in this case, because only one came up with a seed case still attached.
I wonder if it's also like giving birth -- have to give the babies a challenge to push through more soil to face this thing we call life.

Looking good. Stronger and healthier than the Early Top Tao, I think. Very deep green leaves, slight purple on the stems.
Still only 5/6. [HASHTAG]#6[/HASHTAG] has germed / sprouted little root, but I wonder if it will make it. Am leaving in the pot, but it's obviously behind the others.

If I get 5/6 Safari + 1/3 Early Top Tao (the other two are doing weird super early flowering!), then that's 6 photo plants for outdoors.
Well, originally I was planning garden holes for 6 + 3 = 9, but only got around to digging 7 holes. So, will leave at that. Save me some dawn digging. haha.
