New Grower 5x Purple kush auto 600 watt HPS in soil

Hey growbeast, just chiming in on your question about curing. Great grow by the way, awesome harvest.

After a good slow dry (till stems snap) put your buds in jars. It will smell like hay at this point. Burp the jars everyday until you notice the buds are not getting moist anymore, then seal the jar for atleast 2 weeks. This is when I usually start smoking my harvest. The longer you let the jars sit unopened the better the smell will come back. Mostly strain dependent, some strains will be tastey after 2 weeks. Some take 1-2 months. Its a process that takes patience and refining. If you can grow them that well, you can cure em as well my friend. Take care!

Thanks truu for taking the time to answer my question. This is my first time curing so anxiety is sky high. I want to grow connoisseur buds,

@Truu- thanks for the rep man appreciate that

My observation: first plant i choped has zero sweet, good, dank canna smell, just hay smell-trimmed all buds off stems immediatly and into brown paper bags...2nd plant chopped 4am Christmas morning, hung in closet whole with bud leaves left on. I can smell the hay smell but also the sweet dank smell.

So I'm wondering if something went wrong with how i harvested the first plant. Been curing for almost 3 days and smells like hay, absolutly no dank smell. I figured both smells would be present and curing would eliminate the hay while bringing out the dank smell more prevalent.

Maybe its just the pheno and it plans to eventually come out, but the second plant i smell the dank in there so i know im good with that one.

The curing and drying process is no short thing.

Are you confusing the drying process with curing? If you chopped on Christmas day your plant is nowhere near dry. Your still smelling the dank smell because she is not dry yet. They will lose their smell and smell like hay. You cure the buds in jars so the slow release of the oils comes back and cures the buds. Do yourself a favor and read some guides over drying and curing.

And you're in luck JM has already taken care of that.

Hey truu, how was your christmas? Thanks again for stopping by my thread.

Im not confusung dry and cure. I have two plants harvested about over a week apart. The first plant smelled 200% like hay, like regular brick weed almost from the day i choped her. I used the paper bag method to dry and i think it dryed way to fast, four days and she was dry but not crispy, stems were snapping.

Second plant is different. She went a week alitle longer, choped on day 72, chopped her and fliped plant upside down whole with bud leaves still on. Drying much slower and has a mix of dank smell and hay smell.

Only reason i express concern is i read plants should have dank and hay smells while drying. One plant of mine has zero dank to it, even when i sweeze a bud.

So your saying the dank completly goes away then comes back? Thanks for that link, im going to read it now. Ive read a million articals and threads but obviously somethings not sinking in. Ive fked so much up tho with this grow i think im on my way to being a master grower lol. Trial n error works every time.

Yeah I've always thought while drying that that dank "weed" smell goes away and is replaced by a sort of plant-ish / green-ish / hay-ish smell ... then as it cures into smokable (preferably anyways) weed the dank smell seems to return and gradually increase as curing progresses.

Dirty when your dank goes away, can u smell it a little when u sweeze the buds, or is it completly gone?
