New Grower 30 Days into Very First Grow. Opinions Wanted!

So I looked at the plants earlier and noticed a lady-bug sized bug on one of the leaves. It was bright red. Any ideas?

I was under the impression mites were much smaller? Am I wrong? I looked all over for a while and couldn't find it and also used a loupe to look under some leaves and don't see anything crawling.

Its not a mite, they are tiny and plant killers if left unchecked. I found some on day 12 and sprayed the shit out of them and washed my tent and everything in it with bleach/water.

Unfortunately the issue I noticed the other day has progressively gotten worse. Now I am worrying.. I have only fed bloom nutes twice and I thought I way underfed. 2ML per L except CaMg which got 3Ml per L this feed.

I flushed it just now as it was watering day and I figured flushing was my safest bet as this looks to be some sort of deficiency/toxicity. It started showing up after last feed, which was a higher dosage than the first feed of bloom nutes, making me think I over fed them badly. I use FFOF soil but thought 36 days was enough for the plant to use up most of the nutes in the soil.

Have you drawn up your nutrient chart yet? Figured out rough percentages for each macro and micro nutrient? As well where does the ph of each feeding sit? Your amount for Cal Mg is really 3 ml per L? How much of this nutrient solution in ml. do you feed each time ? There doesn't seem to be a deficiency, but it does look like excess nutrients may be burning your leaves. Another question, no critters eating them by chance?

Since you just fed Cal Mag, I'm not positive you're going to have much of anything you to those plants. But I do have a couple questions.

Does your cal-mag have nitrogen in it?

When you water do you water to run off, I mean you get 10 or 15% runoff water out the bottom of the pot and you don't let the plants soak it back up?

I would say your plants are just slightly nitrogen toxic, and I see some Calcium deficiency showing up on the lower leaves. The feeding you just gave of cal/mag should solve that Calcium deficiency. Hopefully it didn't have very much nitrogen in it otherwise that's going to be counterproductive.

Anyway, since you haven't really been giving nutrients. If you have water to run off it's unlikely you'll have any kind of lock out going on. If that sounds like you I would just continue on with Clearwater and if you show any calcium deficiencies you might possibly think of a foliar feed. It's getting a little late in flower to do that but feeding Cal Mag directly into the soil while okay can help increase the salt content of your soil over time.

Sort of. I'm using one based off the General Organics chart and also Tang's. The PH is 6.5 before adding nutrient solution. I do not PH the nutrient solution water as the GO box says it is not necessary. I will start if this is wrong of me. I have a cheap soil PH probe, and it read off 6.5. I checked the runoff from this mornings flush and it read 6.6.

I have hardly fed at all this grow up until now, 1ml CalMag only a few times and I fed grow nutes 1 time a while back as well. I switched to bloom nutes last Wednesday and fed 1ML bloom, 1ML bio bud and 1.5ML CalMag. She looked great. So on her feeding Saturday I upped it to 2ML and 3ML CalMag, but also upped the amount of water I gave her to 1.5 liters. So this means she got nutes 2 feedings in a row, with the second one being twice as strong. I think I overdid it?

I do not think I have a pest issue. I did notice a small red bug about the size of a lady bug.. couldn't find it when I pulled the plant out to look. Also a few gnats, probably from the FFOF, but nothing bad. I used a jeweler loupe to look under some leaves and saw nothing.

Thanks for your input, truly appreciated!!!

No N in the CalMag. 0-0-0

I always water to run off, and they don't soak it back up. I go in after the fact with paper towels and make sure any excess run off that may be inside the growbox is gone.

I did give her twice the amount of nutes on her second feed than I did on her first, and gave nutes two feedings in a row.. on top of the fact that I mostly haven't been feeding her this grow..

Thanks for your input, you guys have no idea how much I appreciate it!

You can always drop off a couple photos and a description over in the infirmary section and get some expert advice.

Ouch, I just saw your message about a few knats. They get in the roots and can give all kinds of deficiency symptoms. Maybe running these in the infirmary is a good idea.
