Hello there AFN people. Its been a while. But i started my 2nd grow about a week ago. I only need a once a year grow for personal use and its that time! I soaked 2 seeds until they sank, moved to paper towel for another 18-24 hours until they popped. I planted and they were 1 inch tall the next day! I love the speed at which a plant just takes off. I think I planted them on June 6. I'm using roots organics soil and the roots organics master pack fertilizer. No fungus gnats...yet!

This time I have upgraded the cabinet from 200watts cfl - (which gave me almost an oz. a plant - Nirvana Blue Mystic) to a 270 watt LED. I also switched to 1 gal airpots from standard 1 gal pots. I hope to see a bit of difference! Looking forward to another summer of growing with my AFN friends. I find that I am not as uptight this time around as last time. Probably because I still have some left from last time LOL!!! I'll post some pics later.

Hi Chester! Glad to see you....Going to check out your grow as soon as I'm done here! Finally getting around to another post. I'm noticing some differences with this grow...its almost like a first time grow with the new lights and pots. The airpotsare keeping the girls pretty dry. Also seeing some slight upward curling of the leaves. A few of the bottom leaves have yellowed, but they were lying on the dirt so I'm not too concerned... Not sure what if anything is up. I do know it is HARD to keep these things watered. Seems like they need it about every other day. I just finished adding a carbon filter to the cabinet...such a small cabinet it was a tight fit. I'll post some pics of the set up and the plants. Any thoughts are welcome.

Sorry for the delay ... unless the manufacturer had a suggestion I run mine from 12" to 36" away ... 16-18" would be a good rule of thumb ... got a link to the light ?

I would raise it to the maximum available w/o moving the air duct ... LEDs need a little distance for the wavelengths to blend together for maximum benefit ...

Thanks Chester. ..I moved it up as soon as you mentioned it. I'm planning to move the air duct up higher in a few days once I figure out how to position it. I didn't really notice any smell in there before installing the filter. ..but now that is in there I realize there certainly WAS a smell. Lol

Last night the plants were looking droopy. I gave them roots organic extreme serene, trinity and buddha growth and some organic cal / mag. I raised the light even a bit more..now about 18 inches above the tops. the heat is down a bit for the plants and hopefully they won't get so dry next time. I am finding that i have to water about every 2 - 3 days in the airpots. Last crop only had to water approx. every 5 days using standard plastic 1 gal pots. Today they look very good. WOoHOo!!

Watering is now every 2 day. I'm shortening the light cycle from 24 hours to 18/6 starting tonight. I did some LST for the first time. Just opening up the plants. One of them is about 4 inches shorter than the other and much bushier. Don't know if the pics will show that since these are post LST. I used some pipe cleaners and the airpots have perfect attachement points for LST'ing. Last grow I did not LST except for using Chester's ponytail method. I forgot to ponytail this time, so I decided to do something while its still growing to open up some sites for more BUD!! These girls are approximately 25 days old. About 12 and 16 inches tall.
