To be honest I don't think there are any benefits to not changing res other than just not having to bother with doing it haha. The same way I don't want to be bothered checking ph all the time. Pure laziness ;D
If the plants drink 6 gallons of water in my system that uses 12 gallons then why bother dumping out the other 6 gallons when I can just add a fresh 6 gallons to get back up to 12. Now that I think about it, it would definitely prolong the life of my RO filter and only having to refill certain amounts instead of the whole system is definitely faster when it takes my filter 1 hour per 5 gals of RO water. Add to the fact that I'm doing all of this in a 1 bed room apt and my operation is in my closet. All these things start to add up to me not wanting to bother with full res changes.
Don't get me wrong though, I know how to adapt. I've already done 1 res change after 2 weeks even though I wasn't planning on it. If If seems like I need to do one I definitely will.
Gotcha, and that makes total sense to me. I understand the not wanting to bother with it portion of it, but as I had to learn there are some places you can take shortcuts and other places not so much. And trust me I completely understand about having to wait on water to filter grrrrr it is a pain in the neck. But if it was easy everyone would do it. I am subbed up for sure because I am interested to see how it turns out and what kind of results you see. One of the things that will help with not changing the rez is the RO water, that is where a lot of the salts that you want to avoid can come from. So don't let anyone tell you that you cant do something, do it and prove em all wrong! But as always I and most on here are here to help in any way we can
