I started germination today on two seeds ( 1 x massive midget AF and 1 x Candy Kush AF) which i intend to indoor/outdoor hempy bucket grow.

Placed in a jiffy plug, inside a plastic bag, sealed and left on a warm window sill. Hoping for pops by Sunday 5/31.

My tools:
2 x 3 Gallon Square Buckets

Perlite / Vermiculite blend (3:1)

4 x 42W CFL (600W equivalent total) for two plants already on a sunny window sill with frosted glass. It's only 3 square feet so i figure with the CFL and the sunlight, plus mylar siding on the window box, I should be good for Auto Flowers. I am using two gooseneck type, spring adjustable lamps with adjustable socket splitters in each one that can be positioned to side of the plants (hoping this gets enough lumens to the lower part of the plant).

Oscillating fan to keep things moving on the sill when indoors.

FF Nute Trio (Grow Big, Hydroponic Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom)

Sledgehammer Flush

Digital pH Reader with pH up and pH down

Digital PPM Reader

De-chlorinating water and will pH to 5.5 - 5.8. FF Nute mix will also get pH to 5.5 - 5.8.

I kept seeing the term "hemp buckets" and I'm thinking "but won't they leak?". Now I know.
I will be checking on your journal. So expected harvest in mid-August?
If you look at MrMojo's pots there is a hole a couple of inches up, this allows excess water/nutrients to drain out in to catchment tray below.
The hempy bucket has a small reservoir of nutrient at the bottom of the bucket.

Hempy buckets are a passive hydro system.

Thinking they will be fully ready by late august-early sept. I've seen lot's of reports of AF taking a bit longer than quoted, so i'm allowing myself 90 days to see some results.

Looking at your buckets and reading your words, I've got a feeling - and the feeling is your gonna grow the shite out of some Auto's. Subbed up. Nice journal - Seems like you know what's up. You gonna be using a veg spectrum or running flower all the way through ?

That is a very good question to which i am looking for guidance. I know AF don't rely on photoperiod, but SHOULD I switch over to 2700k (at 6500k now) when they start to flower? Or run 6500k all the way through? i have the 2700K bulbs ready to go. I've seen that some people get good results by mixing the two spectrums. Not sure how that applies to AF strains though. Any thoughts?

Hell yes - glad ya asked ! :pass:
Simulate a natural environment as much as possible! When you use appropriate color spectrums , your allowing your plant to use it's energy and time as efficiently as possible. Veg spectrum simulates spring / early summer sun light - cuing your plants to veg out and start stock piling fuel/food for buds. Then when you switch to your flower spectrum it simulates the late summer early fall harvest sun (ever notice the particularly red hue to sunlight in fall?
That being said - Autos can be grown to completion from seed under either spectrum, with varying results, but they seem to benefit most from age appropriate spectrum's. I've heard of a member here running blue lights and turning out nice plants....
Me personally - I run a mixture of both through out, with the higher end going to the age appropriate spectrum. This stuff is so fun to talk about and think about ! If I understood your entry - your girls will be getting some natural light through the fogged glass ? Perhaps ya could run the 65k all the way and the sunlight will balance things out nicely. :2cents: :greenthumb: :bump:
