Looks amazing, I wonder what yo dry weight would be
Great first grow Frank, got some fat buds from this one
I''ll see about getting you a Fastbuds badge
Also if you haven't already look into getting some Boveda packs for curing. They work awesome... I use them religiously
No problem bro. Yeah the 62% ones are what I use. The smell will come back after a good cure for sure... I usually wait at least a month before dipping into the jars. The longer the cure the better they get though, with the boveda's you can pretty much keep them curing indefinitely. I always save a bit from each crop for a long-term cure... after 6+ months they are unrealThanks a lot Hans!
Alright, will do! Where do you usually get those? (Update: just found some on Amazon, can be delivered tomorrow. They're 62% RH, is that those ones I need to get? THANK YOU!!!)
The buds seem to be partially dry (dry on the outside), but they still mostly smell like hay (except for the larger ones that have a more fruity smell). Hope the curing will help!
Thanks for passing by, and thank you for the badge!
When measuring RH in the jars it can take 12-24 hrs for it to settle at the actual level, if it creeps up over 70% in that time your buds aren't dry enough to be in the jars yet... The Boveda's aren't what's causing your humidity to rise, they can only do so much though. You always want to dry your buds so they are at least below 70% before jarring up (or could have potential mold issues). I don't drop in the boveda's until I know what the true RH is with just the buds. Once they are in the 60's I add in the boveda packs and burp the jars occasionally for the first month.Hey guys!
Just a quick update:
Grapefruit is curing in jars. I bought the Boveda packs by the way, but it seems that RH rises up to 70% + when I place a Boveda in the jar. So I've removed the Bovedas for now. RH is somewhere between 63 and 68%. Can't really tell - bought 6 hygrometers and it seems that none actually works... It's a bit tricky to measure RH in jars...

I don't think you messed anything up, even if you did overdry them (which I've done several times lol) the Boveda's will bring them back in the sweet spot. No I wouldn't recommend using a humidifier during drying, there's no need, you just adjust your drying time based on your humidity... if yours is 40% that's a perfect level anyway. And no definitely don't use the Beveda packs during drying either, they are for curing only and need to be kept in an airtight jar/container always.Thank you very much Hans!!!!
Yes I think I messed the drying up... Too much heat and not enough humidity I suppose. By the way, I will harvest the Girl Scout Cookies pretty soon, in less than a week I think. I don't wanna do the same mistake twice; would you recommend using a humidifier and/or Boveda packs for the drying? I know it can seem silly haha, but the RH in my area is about 40%, so it makes the buds dry way too quickly I believe (that's what happened to Grapefruit and now her buds are airy/fluffy...). I've got both a humidifier and Boveda packs at my disposal so I am wondering which one I should use.
I am alternating jars/brown paper bags at the moment, with about 18 hours in the jar and 6 in the brown paper bags. That way, I kind of manage to keep RH between 62 and 68% for now.
She's quite enjoyable to smoke though I will be patient and wait for some more taste to develop on the larger buds. The Cookies buds look really dense by the way :-O
Again, thank you very much Hans!
