Hi.

I was just checking out your grow, I'm growing AKR as well it will be nice to watch the sisters grow up together. Best of luck with your grow.

just be careful when you go to the nursery you get a digital ph meter and not a soil meter(unless you want that too) but i did the same and paid for it dearly.

I use sulfur to lower my pH. Should be able to find it at the nursery or a good green house supply store. On the pH meter, don't waste your money on those $20 ones you commonly see around. Get a good one that measures at least pH, if not ppm also. Wouldn't be surprised if you won't be able to find one locally and have to order it off the net. I use a Hanna Combo but there are other good ones out there as well.

Scott, Ill be bumping up to 3x65 watt CFL's when flowering time comes.
Bailer, Im using reverse osmosis water.
Bailer & Thai, Im using Fox Farm Grow Big, Big Bloom & Tiger Bloom.
Muddy, Im actually off to get that from the store today or tomorrow. Slipped my mind to be honest. Thinking the local nursery should have them. If the ph is too high any good tips on lowering it?

Beaver, right on man! Do you have a thread going on for your grow? Love to check it out.
Muddy, I picked up a digital ph stick today. $12, so not bad on price. Your right on with the ph being at 7.0 on the head. So I should get sulfur? Any tips on how to administer it to the mix?

Also, curious on how much water I should be giving it at this point (only been in the ground for a day). I sprayed the mix down before I put it in, and gave it a little spritz today.

And one last thing, about when should I see a little sprout breaking ground?

Sulfur is what I use and it's very effective, plus it's a trace element that the plants can use. I mix it right into my soil before I plant. How much will depend on what kind you can get. I have some that looks like split peas. I add about 1 tsp. to a 3 gallon pot. There are also some powdered varieties available. They are faster acting that the split pea type.

I would be very skeptical of the readings from that pen. As I mentioned, the cheap ones are not usually very good and notoriously inaccurate. A good one will usually run in the $100 - $150 range.

So if the seed is already in the mix what would be your advice for lowering the ph? Also, since I don't have the cash flow for for a high end pen, would some of the test kits be better to use? (I saw them at the store)

Also, quick question on watering, at this phase (put the germed seed in the soil on Sunday), how much should I water? Like I said earlier I used a spray bottle to wet it down before planting, and gave it a spritz yesterday and today. I've heard the stories of over watering, just don't want to under water either. Mind you the seedling hasn't even broke ground yet. Thanks!

finger test the soil bro, is the soil moist on your finger tip after pushing down to the first bend in your index finger? remember these are ruderalis and are very tough! easy to overwater very hard to underwater! moist, not soaking! :hump:

Hey bro! :smokebuds: I got this Hannah pH pen and have used it for about 10 months now with no issues.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HANNA-HI99104-99104-PH-METER-TESTER-CHECKER-/300422601645?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f2951bad#ht_626wt_1141

I would stay away from any of the test kits with drops for pH. Once you start adding nutes to your watering regime, that will change the color of the water which makes it nearly impossible to get an accurate reading when you compare it to the chart those kits come with.

With the Hannah pen, you'll also need to get some storage solution and 4.01 and 7.01 calibration solution. You could get set up with the pen and those solutions for +/- $50. Not cheap, but worth its weight in gold for the headaches and problems it will save you down the road.
