Lighting First DWC Scrog Cheese

Quick question checked my res today and the EC had dropped a little, only from 1.3 to 1.2 Is this saying the plant is starting to take more nutes than water and will want increasing next res change? :dunno: would hate to over do it again because now I think about it before I did the first res change (the one that burnt my baby) the ec had upped by 0.1 which was probably telling me not to up it?

I need a joint.... :slaps:

Dude, that EC level is bit too high for that stage but dont panic. Gradually aim to lower it somewhere at 1.0 or so. I usually never go higher than 1.5 in an entire cycle unless there is really hungry strain.

Please note that I am not an expert but simply just saying what has worked for me the best.

Hey bro thanks for the reply. I have hard water (ec 0.5) so my nutrients added is more like 0.8 is this still too high? Thanks again bro

You are using DutchPro, they advise a much higher EC than other manufacturers with their product.
I love the product, but technical customer support is non existent in the US.
As long as the plants don't look burnt, keep them there.
If they look stressed or burning, dilute your solution a bit.
You are correct in that a stable or slowly falling EC/ppm reading is a good sign the plant is taking up nutrients.

Now that is a hard one... I cannot be sure since my water ec is usually just 0.1 ec. I bet in that case it might be best to follow the situation and see if there are signs of over fert. I believe the meter can be on the edge of 1.2 and 1.3.... thats why it changed..

Thanks greybear I'm really pleased with dutchpro so far I've had to email them a few times as there are no ingredients on the bottles which makes it a little hard to know just how strong they are and they have replied within 24 hours but their emails just go straight into junk. Thanks for confirming my EC question as well bro it's a massive help! :d5:

Thanks bro like grey bear said I will just take it easy and as long as I'm having healthy growth I will just stick with it for now and just keep a close eye on her :Sharing One:

Lewb12, I was toying around with Canna's own fertilizer calculator and according to that you should just ignore the added EC to the water. So in that note, you should be just ok with the EC amount you have for now.

Hey Lewb12,

just had a quick look through this thread, you said you can only check the levels once late at night. So dosn't the bubbler effect the pH ? i mean if you mix up your solution then test everything, it looks fine then leave maybe it might change. i'm sure i read that somewhere lol Obviously ph effects the uptake of the nutes, everyone knows that, anyway i really wanted to help as i'm intrested in swiching to a bubbler system from soil too in he future so have done a little research.
Anyway probably best just to ignor this ramberling mess.

heres my guide;

yellow leaves = more food
burnt tips = flush then less food
no growth = flush, check the temp in the room then carry on

p.s. oh just thought, what about the temp of the solution the roots are in, do you check that ?

Chickenfeet, in my experience the bubbler raises the Ph initially just a little while it pumps air into the water. That's why some advice to bubble the water some before applying it to the reservoir. Some nutrients like Canna has pretty good Ph stabilizers in them that keeps the Ph stable, but I have some Ph fluctuation problems right at the first weeks always because the consentrations of the nutrients are so small and therefore also the Ph buffering along with the nutrients are too weak.

That should be fixed with some Ph buffers but I simply don't have enought knowledge on those. It has usually been just enough to monitor the Ph really carefully for the first weeks.

Look forward to pics bro :Sharing One:your right that your EC falling is her taking a bit more feed than water ...thats good Lew ,slightly underfed & a 0.1 drop over a few days is great for young girls .

Yep EC falling & PH rising = underfed
EC rising & PH falling = overfed
Get the EC spot on & PH will stay stable = sweet spot !

I would up the feed but only 0.1-0.2 max (50-100ppm) on your next res change .Once there off & growing 0.2 increase each week is a good rule of thumb & adjust with plain PH water if needed :Sharing One:

with your water at 0.1 a good idea is add a bit of cal mag & silica before other nutes .Helps buffer soft water a lot & there needed additives too :Sharing One:
