Thanks for the advice DWCocha! So CalMag and silica can act as a Ph buffer? I am bit ignorant of their use anyway.. Why should one use them other than as a buffer?

Cal & mag for calmag deficiency that happen a lot easier in hydro than other mediums & the silica is awesome stuff for strengthening your plants branches so they can hold up monster buds lol ...helps a lot for general vigor in the veg stage .Two essential addatives for DWC IMO :Cool bud:

Hey Lewb12,

just had a quick look through this thread, you said you can only check the levels once late at night. So dosn't the bubbler effect the pH ? i mean if you mix up your solution then test everything, it looks fine then leave maybe it might change. i'm sure i read that somewhere lol Obviously ph effects the uptake of the nutes, everyone knows that, anyway i really wanted to help as i'm intrested in swiching to a bubbler system from soil too in he future so have done a little research.
Anyway probably best just to ignor this ramberling mess.

heres my guide;

yellow leaves = more food
burnt tips = flush then less food
no growth = flush, check the temp in the room then carry on



p.s. oh just thought, what about the temp of the solution the roots are in, do you check that ?

Hey Bro My PH usually goes up by 0.4 once I've left bubbling for a few hours but other than that I've only had to adjust once in the week as its been pretty stable. and yes bro i also check my res temp every day which is also stable at 19 degrees.

Look forward to pics bro :Sharing One:your right that your EC falling is her taking a bit more feed than water ...thats good Lew ,slightly underfed & a 0.1 drop over a few days is great for young girls .

Yep EC falling & PH rising = underfed
EC rising & PH falling = overfed
Get the EC spot on & PH will stay stable = sweet spot !

I would up the feed but only 0.1-0.2 max (50-100ppm) on your next res change .Once there off & growing 0.2 increase each week is a good rule of thumb & adjust with plain PH water if needed :Sharing One:

Sure is Med .If all goes well in a 20 liter DWC then I would 100% be seeing deficiency by sex without a calmag supplement ,It's gunna vary from grower as everyones water is different ,you may go half the grow & no deff but I wouldn't rely on the trace elements in the tap or the base feed .In my case the 2 separate bottles Canna sell have an insane EC & I cant use them so add AN Sensical right now instead ,starting at week 2 with 3-4ml & working up 1-2ml each week (always adding it first) The silica is optional but good imo . Hope that helps

Congrats on taking the dive into photos too, that what my plan is after this auto run....(gonna run autos between harvest for photos!!) gonna give dwc a try as well..(with autos first, seen seymore-buds grows, and knew him from another site..epic grower!!!!) so trying to mimic that a lil...small setup for now....will consist of 2x4 tent , 2 150 hps, (really wanted to go led, but already have a 150 with new bulb, so cheaper just to buy another 150 , $$ Tight at the moment) & 2 5 gal dwc buckets w/ two 4" air stones per bucket, on a 60l air pump.., still undecided on Nute regime,
.basically starting over, lost all equip in storage, that's another story for another day. Just trying to get max yeild for space I have.., and with what I can afford..

Hey bro and welcome to AFN :tiphat: seymours grows certainly are something! Once you've had a look into the site you'll find there are quite a few Hydro growers here who really know what they're doing and are always glad to help you out! I'm finding funds an issue at the minute too! The turbo went in my car last week and my dishwasher packed in two days later. I have to agree with you, plant is doing really nice! I bet your choise about the EC is really good. Better to go with that level and bumb it up once she's a bit more adult. Get back to that though in a week or so? :Cool bud:

So to just close off the little offtopic we had, I went for a crazy shopping spree at my local gardenstore today and got all kinds of additives. So now I am applying some calsium and magnesium along with silica and ghe diamond nectar to my girls. DWCocha, you convinced me on this matter and I am keenly looking forward on results. Thank you so much for your advice. I will continue about this issue at the "Fertilizers and soil" -section of this forum.
