New Grower AFN Communal Competition thread

also this may not be the right place to ask but does anyone know if there is any scientific connection to chronic migranes and low endo-cannbinods in the brain just curious really do to the fact that i have them 4-7days a week

i voted for magic dragon cuz i dreamed of that strain name when thinking of hybrids with my first jems. this plant totally deserves it:wiz:

smokey: What caused that mold? Im a fairly new grower and would cry pink twinkies if I woke up to that. Sorry, Bro.

My JEMS: So far, the ones I have in soil are bigger and more developed than my hydro and aero ones. I dont know if its because they like soil better, or because I have a lot more experience w/ soil than I do hydro... My soil plants have 2-3 more inches and an extra set of leaves.

Too high humidity, or too much ferts in cold conditions will also do it. It also helps if a fan is blowing on them. Some times there is nothing you can do. Too many plants in one place will putout too much moisture and your done.

yeah... it sux mate! try losing 75% of your outdoor to that shit.... bummer aint it? but ya gotta recognize your mistakes and move on...

like bailer said... airflow... i actually have one minor disagreement with what he said though... you can have as many plants as you can cram into a space (light wise) and be fine... the trick is adequately sizing your ventilation... but sizing it is only part of it... you also need to insure that frequency of exchange is kept high enough to keep humidity in check... 70% should be your highest if you're crammin em all together...

quick sizing concept:

a room should clear via your exhaust fan in 3-5 minutes.. (pref 3)

example: my room is 8' x 4' x 5' = 160 Cu ft
My fan is 90 CFM
160/90 CFM = 1.77 mintues... pleny!

also keep in mind when sizing... if you use a carbon filter instead of an ionizer for air cleaning on exit... you need to factor that in... expect to lose about 50% flow to the filter

and finally... he's absolutely right on this... fans in the room for circultaion... i like oscillators as you can set them up to scan the entire room thereby insuring good air flow to all... you want the fans to scan over every plant... but not to be blowing directly on them all the time... think of nature... breezes come and go... airflow is always there... be it fast or slow...

:smokebuds:

Oh, good call. I have fans, but they are head on to the plants. I think I will swap em out for oscalators. Thanks, gents.

Man I'm sorry to hear about your mold issues smokey, and I'm even more sorry to hear about yours 75% lost JM.

Your on the right track bateyes, oscillation is key. I had a fan that didn't oscillate and it cause some major wind burn on 3 of my tops. Can't stop staring at the purple in snipers pic , I just now seen that the poll closed. I haven't had much time to log in because I have been moving this week...Which brings me to my next question. Has anyone had any experienced with moving plants from one residence to another? The area I am going too is decently populated. I am thinking of waiting for lights out (around 2am) and putting them all in individual cardboard boxes. The ride is only about 20 minutes from their current grow location to the next, but the whole ordeal just has me a bit nervous and I want to make sure their isn't a smarter way to go about it.

Cheers mate.
I think it was caused by the fact i've had up to 6 plants at any one time in my tent(currently 4)...with 3 different watering schedules. I have a fan blowing in the bottom vent which has a 2 hour timer built in and leave the tent zip open at the top to let the warm air out...however having a newborn has meant i've been a bit sloppy with regards looking after them all :help:
not really sure how old they are even...i know roughly but it could be a couple of weeks either way
Still...it's not all doom and gloom...i dried the nug i rescued on top of my lamp so i could enjoy tonight and look what i found...
