ok im looking for info on this subject. everyone at the grow shop told me that its almost the same as hydro.
ph 5.8 to 6.2.... then others say 6.5 to 6.8. idk but I got a bail of it and wanna try again at dirt growing. so if any one can input please do soo as im only good at hydro growing.....

I grow in promix, I keep my ph between 5.9 & 6.2, works well for me... Muddy had told me thats a good range as it is close to growing in hydro:thumbup:

thanks friend. I tried soil so many times and I fail epicly almost everytime on yield any way. im glad I got another input..

ill be running a few plants this way and Im hoping for much better results this time around.

i use pro-mix hp at 6.2 from veg to half way through flowering , i go 6.5 late flowering

recently had my helper spill my ph down and top it back up with water without telling me , i know to the drop how much to use so only take reading 3-4 times a year incase my water quality changes with the seasons (it does)

long story short is i did an entire batch of plants 60 of them that werent very healthy with a couple actually dieing , if i hadnt been so exhausted lacking energy all the time i wouldnt of been away from them so much and would have noticed , so once harvested i was like "wtf went wrong" ph'd a jug of water as i normally would and it was reading 6.6 , meaning the way i would and did for late flowering would of been 6.9

thats twice now my helper has cost me a small fortune , he is no longer my helper

6.2 veg they seem to love , 6.5 late flower they seem to love , if ppl are saying go lower in pro-mix then maybe ill try with one plant and see how it reacts

peace

Hey b0b, do you add anything to the promix??? Any extra perlite, dolo lime?? I currently run sunshine #4 and was looking at a switch to Promix.

photo seeds straight promix in small containers then pot up to pro-mix with added perlite

autos straight into final containers of pro-mix with approx 10% added perlite , i dont measure lol

pro-mix hp too which is already more airy then bx

I've revised my pH numbers up a bit with Pro Mix. Now I try to maintain around 6.3 - 6.4. I was getting lockout on some strains at 5.9 and 6. I like HP for LEDs, CFLs and T5s, BX for HPS. BX holds a bit more moisture and tends to stay too wet under low heat lights. The only exception is if you're using Air Pots. HP tends to dry out too quickly, even under low heat lights, so I'd recommend BX for air pots. The starting pH of Pro Mix is usually about 7 right out of the bag. I've done a lot of experimenting to lower the starting pH and have found 17% aluminum sulfate to be the most effective. At the rate of 4 grams per gallon of mix it lowers the pH to around 6.3 when measured the day after feeding, slowing rising to about 6.6 as the soil dried out.

Thanks all. I'll try two separate grows one on the low end 5.8 - 6.2. And another on the higher end 6.2 to 6.5. If these mess up I'll go higher.

i like it to dry quickly , yes watering more often sucks , but imho when it is good and airy and needing frequent watering i get hydro'ish yields while maintaining soil'ish quality

best of both worlds lol

Thanks again for all your help bob. I'm just a horrible dirt grower. And wanna get better for my outdoor grow this season.
