New Grower BC Buddy’s first proper grow

looks like a nice take off.
If i didn't know the medium, Id do the "lift tha pot" test. Always a good test, and your plants don't weigh in literally at this stage, so you get a good feeling how much water is in there (remember 1kg water equals ~1l /10 engl Pound water equal ~1 gal).
Good luck.

Cheers, Last run I used the finger technique so I’ll need to start paying more attention to the weight and try to utilize that method.

Fired up I managed to get in an order of a 3-pack of Mephisto’s brand new Wedding Cake auto along with a 3-pack of sour stomper for my next run. I might try to start those two before my current ones are finished and get a bit of a perpetual grow going, space permitting of course.

Day 11 update. Second set of true leaves are coming in nicely but the girls appear to be a little short. Is it just me or could they benefit from raising the lights a few inches? They’re around 10.5” above the top of the plants right now, I was intentionally keeping them lower because they’re cheap blurple but maybe that was a bad idea. As always any and all advice is welcome and appreciated!

they look perfect!
Not "too" small, exactly how many of the people like them. They stretch in search of light, so yes, you may rise the lights a bit, but perhaps check ppfd with ppfdmeter or photone app or such, to get a little more scientifics into your game. But theres always and still discussion how light and yielt in high doses correspond, and to what level of experience and equipment you may need to cope with high light.
I was running blurple as well for years, and never had problems as long as i kept the leaf temperature in range.
No light damage to see imo.
Perhaps you leave the lights as is and keep moisture very high at this stage - I think they will love it.
And at this stage, if you want to estimate size, look at the leaf size.
I'd change nothing atm.
Good Luck!

Thank you once again for putting my mind at ease! Classic beginner grower overthinking everything. I’ll try to get my humidity up higher over these next couple weeks before flower and will closely monitor for light damage. Cheers brother!

Day 17 - It’s been 6 days since last update - had a busy week and then went on a fishing trip over the weekend. I watered them about 750ml each before I left and thankfully the girls seem to be doing well. I was originally planning to top at the fourth node and then LST but I think I may have missed my opportunity so I’ll just stick to LST for this run and try my hand at topping next time.

She look's great :d5:

Decided to transplant from the 1.5gal plastic pots to 3gal fabric pots this evening and to be honest I have regrets. I think next grow I will plant directly into the 3 gal fabric pot. I should have done more research, I don’t think I filled the pots with enough soil and it didn’t go very smooth at all. It was my first time really transplanting so I won’t be surprised to see the growth slow down over the next few days. Oh well, as the old saying goes - never try, never know! Hopefully they will recover quickly and then I will begin my LST and probably trim away some of the lower branches that are close to the dirt after the transplant, and then roll down the top of the pot until it’s flush with the soil. I watered 1.5L of water for each plant immediately after transplanting which is the most I’ve watered yet, and bumped up the nutes to the early veg recommendation of 2ml/L of the AN trio. Excited to see how resilient these girls are after this screwup of mine. :)

Both girls rebounded extremely well after the transplant and I pretty much immediately saw new growth. As a result i was feeling adventurous so I changed my mind and decided to top both the girls on day 18. May have gone a little too far and removed the lowest set of leaves on both as well since they were pretty much in the dirt. Some may describe this as torture but I wanna push them to the limits and see how they do. Unfortunately I have to go out of town again for a couple days so I will be watering tomorrow before the pots are fully light, but they seem happy with the water schedule so far. Maybe promix is easier than I thought! Or maybe It’s just mephisto living up to the hype haha.. I believe I’m getting a new phone on Tuesday so I should have better quality pics starting then.

It’s always nerve wracking being away from the girls, especially the days immediately following a topping! Thankfully they seem to be doing pretty well although both girls are showing sex now which seems a little early. Not sure if that was due to the stress of topping and transplanting or if it’s just their time, we are at day 22 now. The Marley’s grin seems to be taking everything I’m throwing at her and then some. Really happy with how she looks, just trying to decide when and where to LST now. I think I may have missed the top and FIM’d the el Chemi kiwi by accident, or maybe it’s just taking her longer to rebound than her sister. Either way I think I’ll give her another couple days before I begin LST.
