Grow Mediums Auto's in NFT table??

I was wondering if auto's work well in a NFT table like this? I found this pic and the table is a plywood top and bottom with a 2x6 or 2x8 as the frame would auto's respond to this with the shallow root area?

Where do the roots grow? is that flood/water to waste?

I think something like this would work better.


As for where the roots go, you usually use the extra large rockwool cubes.
Start in a small one and then insert it into the largest cube once the roots are established in the smaller cube.
The roots will grow out the cubes and lie on the NFT table, so they are exposed to air and nutrients constantly.

The pics you used looks like it was built for ebb and flow maybe?

Here the table with out the top. The plants sit in the net pots after starting in 3" rockwool cubes, each net pot gets fed with spagetti tubing so it's like drip/nft hybrid. Then the roots just spread out and drink the water running 24/7. It's like nft but without the narrow gutters. I figured this would let the roots grow all over.

heres the spaghetti tubing feeding each net pot
