- Gotta Grow It First
As the title says I am new to growing but have been doing research for some time to understand how it all works. But now am exhausted and going in circles and finally made a purchase.Money is tight...VERY tight so this is a budget get my feet wet type of grow. So,I bought a Mars Hydro tent kit with the TS600 light.I also added from a local grow shop a clip on fan(6 inches),some 10ml/cc syringes for exact extractions of what might be needed,a 16oz measuring cup that has quite a few conversion chart measurements on it,a pot elevator to keep the grow pots off the ground, along with a saucer for underneath to keep water from going everywhere. That should just about round out the kit.I plan on doing one plant at a time to hone my skills and it really is all that will fit in the tent anyway. An oz or two is good by me and for me.Growing is legal here too.
Anything needed like a drying rack for harvest and such will bought when needed. The next issue is I want to grow in soil that is organic so I was thinking a live soil on the bottom and some less ''hot'' soil on top as I would like to drop the seed straight into the 5 gallon pot that is included with the kit.My tap water is listed at about 8ph on the city website(I am in the states Tucson,AZ. to be exact) and we use chlorine at 0.6 to 1.2 ppm.I wonder if I should ph the water down before and after for just basic watering and also for nutes(?)
So I wonder if I can go a good 30 35 days on the soil alone before having to supplement a nute,or is 5 gallon pots enough to coast through to the end? From what I read it seems some kind of supplement WILL be needed....what should I keep on hand....cal/mag?Also I read that adding too many nutes to prevent issues at the beginning adds to nute lock out issues and to only adjust as needed(watch and listen to the plant...THEN respond).
So,what would YOU add before and have on hand to fix a nute deficiency?Looking to keep it tight $$$ wise as well.I think I have read too much and now confused.Anyway thanks for taking the time to read and advise.
Strains are Green Crack and Blue Dream'matic.i ordered from North Atlantic Seed Company and waiting for 'em to arrive while I figure this all out.Water is hard in my city and calcium builds up on the sink faucets.....211 PPM (mg/L) or 12 gpg according to city website.
