Consistent Cal? Deficiency

I saw this the other day but was really hoping someone more knowledgeable would get you sorted. But I’ll offer my opinion.

I can’t help you correct this, but I would try plain water and try to ride it out. But she’s probably locked up and stunted from here on out.

My thought was that you were to heavy handed with nutrients. A lot of manifestations of deficiency could be actually an excess. With your original light you definitely didn’t need all that cal/mag. Plant is stretched so the light intensity wasn’t causing issues. If tuning mega crop my best advice is run really really light on the dose and watch the plant. A slightly underfed plant will still yield a ton more bud than one that has been worked to death with nutrients and change. Far more things can go wrong with over feeding than under. Slowly working your way up to optimal doses will always yield you a healthier and happier plant.

You have a great setup. For your next run take it slow and low. I over cooked my first grow. But never again.

I wish I had better news. Maybe why the lack of responses. But I hope you realize we all just wanna make everyone more knowledgeable. Ride it out, you get some smoke. You can try clearing out the dead yellow leaves. Leave her on plain water and see if she’s drinking. If she keeps drinking maybe very light dose of MC after a water or two.

Or I could be an idiot and she’ll
Bang out 10 ounces. It’s a plant and sometimes they just like to remind us they were here long before us.

The previous remark suggests that you've been using too high a dose of MegaCrop v2. I think 1 g/L or 3.78 g/gallon could easily be too low. I now use 5 g/gallon from about 2 weeks to harvest; and I've seen a good number on AFN use this much or even more. And if you look at the Green Leaf recommended feeding regimens, 3.78 g/gallon is low. Combine this with no P-K booster, and this could explain some of what could be multiple problems.

If you think you have deficiencies, consider foliar feeding -- quicker uptake than normal feeding, and any pH, lockout or other problems in your medium/soil are totally avoided.

:toke:- didn't you come here before with a similar issue 4d? This mostly a light proximity thing, as evidenced by the tops being worst,... the blasting causes a host of problems, triggers other borderline one to show on top as well,... VPD may be off enough in this area to magnify everything as well,...
I see light stress symptoms,... feeds may be low too, making matters worse,... you have mulitple issues on top, Mn may be one of them ( a micronute, and if under fed, you're shorted on a sizable plant),.. P and S may be defc. too, but the paleness is also part of the light blasting... it's jamming up the machinery, braking down the chlorophyll... So, the fix starts with better nute management (use a TDS meter to measure conc., not just eye-balled volumetric or weight, especially with MC which readily absorbs moisture, throwing off the weight)... MC has a lot of Ca and Mg already, more is not necessarily better, too much can screw with uptake of other nutes,... if the water is soft, goi9ng up to about 150ppm or so is probably going to be fine,....
....supercropping is about the only thing you can do for proximity at this point,.. next time, start some LST sooner to rstrict vertical height best you can,...

Hey Guys, first, thanks for all your input. It is greatly appreciated.

I suppose the varied answers show the complexity of diagnosing issues. Or also, just the multiple ways that you can mess up.

I had thought about the problem being over feeding. Which is why i've stuck in and around the early-mid veg recommended dosages. She definitely drinks, she's bone dry after 24 hours. And I will definitely be riding it out. Flowering is still progressing fairly well, and the new sugar leaves showing up don't seem to be showing much sign of deficiencies yet but they are still quite young. Regardless of having some ugly leaves on there I think we'll be able to still come out with a respectable plant if I can stabilize.

This is also something I've thought of. I know manufacturers have a tendency to recommend much higher dosages than you'd want to give an auto, but anything I've seen from people using MC v2 they've been able to grow nice looking plants in and around what I've used and even higher. But I think you may be on to part of the problem, I didn't use Sweet candy throughout, and I don't have a P-K booster. So parts of the healthy nutrient equation are lacking, or causing instability leading to lockout.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I might have to do some research on foliar feeding though since I've never done it at all before

I have had similar issues indeed @Waira . It wasn't as aggressive and I think was more related to the Cal-deficiency. But you are likely right that the problems have been stacking up, really making it difficult to pin down the problem(s) and make appropriate corrections without messing things up further. The lighting issue was really a surprise. All my plants so far have been small, so my short tent has never been that much of an issue. This White Widow went crazy, and I topped and LST'd it early on to keep things spread out. Of course then it just kept growing and growing and soon it was inches from the light. The blasting of the light is the likely culprit to starting the whole mess, then I've probably made things worse at a few points as well. To help with the light, I bought an HLG QB288 135W which is as close the the top as possible, and I also did supercrop the biggest colas to bend to the outside.

For the nutrients, I do use a TDS meter and pH meter. On the pH side, I just got a new Apera PH60 because I had enough of the uncertainty of the cheap meters. And I think I need to lighten up on the CaliMagic. My tap ppm is about 50-70 so its in good range, but the CalMag is hot and pushing it up to 400 or so. I'll try to keep that down to the 150ppm mark and leave the rest of the room for appropriate amounts of MC. Of course on the next grow I am going to try to have Sweet Candy and Bud Explosion as well to have that balance. Unfortunately they haven't been available in the sizes Id want all year so far. But when they come back in stock I'll jump on it.

Thanks again guys. I'll post an update on how things progress. Cheers:cheers:

curious how things are progressing.

Well, I don’t know if I nailed down exactly what the issue was. But after a flush I continued feeding at about 75% Stength megacrop on feed days, and added 1-2mL/L CalMag on the off days of watering. It seems to have slowed or stopped the progression of deficiencies.

So there is a pretty good likelihood that it was a combination of nute lockout and too intense lighting.

I’ve kept on the schedule, defoliating the rough looking leaves and others to open up air flow as well. Just recently I’ve received Bud Explosion and Sweet Candy too. I know it’s probably a bit late but I’ve reduced MC and added a bit of each of those.

Things are coming along nicely and I’ve had to add supports to the branches as they are starting to put on some weight. I’m thinking of stopping nutes soon as I think I may be 7-10 days from harvest

Ive limped more than a few across the finish line. Looks like youll get a decent harvest. im dealing with some leaf issues. Cant get an answer out of the infirmary, so Im just figuring it out on my own.
