Hello lads,

this will be my grow journal for 2018. I´ll try to update frequently.

Introducing the setup: a 3 m² balcony situated on de southside of the house. In addition to that, i have 2 window sills on the same side of the house with plenty of light. Selected males for breeding are are being hosted behind the bathroom window. Seedlings are being raised in another window sill untill repotting.

Introducing the genetics: currently working on 3 AF seedlines.

A - (Herijuana X Lowryder) X (Herijuana X Lowryder) F2 sidecross of the original F1, 25% AF ratio
B - (Herijuana X Lowryder F2 100% AF) X Lowryder , F3 backcross
C - (Herijuana X Lowryder F2 100% AF) X Vinnie´s Haze 100% AF

I´ll refer to A, B or C from now on. The Lowryder genetics have been purchased in 2006 from The Joint Doctor. Performed some large indoor seed runs for my own seed supply back then, always using multiple parent plants, trying to conserve as much of the original genepool as possible for future generations. The Herijuana genetics by Motarebel go back to 3 males out of a 10 seed pack, also acquired in 2006. The potency of this original Herijuana strain is just unbelievable, .

The sidebred F2 A line is a true treasure trove, this is where the interesting AF material for future breeding is to be found. Just planted out 12 more seeds of this line, as well as the B line. This B line is more predictable, displaying 100% AF and dwarf sized plants, very much resembling Lowryder.
But also very interesting, nevertheless. I´ll keep you updated!

Greetz,
DucthBud

Some more pics: a bunch of fresh seedlings out of the B line and 2 female AF´s out of the C line. These 2 are being picked-up by a friend of mine this evening. He´ll be hosting these two plants in his backyard. Two more female plants of this 100% AF cross are currently in the backyard of another friend of mine. This C line could yield some great plants, i am very much looking forward to the results.

Zooming in on one of the better plants out of the second batch: the C line. This line yielded 5 female AF plants out of 12 seeds. This one is the only female plant I will be keeping for myself, the rest has been handed out to friends.

The first batch wasn´t very good, I had 12 x A and 12 x B going in mid April. But unfortunately, the A line yielded just 1 male AF plant out of 12 seeds. The B line did slightly better, with 4 females out of 12 seeds. But after germination , disaster struck... more than 2 weeks of cloudy weather, rain and no sun at all. Some cold nights as well. It really shows, the 4 backcrossed females from the B line are still really small, not representing their true potential.

Pics: The last remaining AF female out of the C line.

Some more pics of today, showing some vigorously growing non-AF individuals out of the sidebred A line. Later this week i´ll remove them since they have no use for me. The 4 AF backcrossed females out of the first batch of the B line had a bad start but are now enjoying the sun. They should be able to yield a couple of grams each, later on. 22 more seedlings out of this B line are now in veg state and there´s 12 more germinating at the moment.

I normally don´t do feminised seeds, but this year i´ve made an exception for 1 plant: a Silverhaze X Durban Poison cross. A friend of mine sent me these seeds a long time ago and it wasn´t before recently that i rediscovered them and decided to germ 1 seed. Just to see what would happen. They´re non-AF and supposed to be feminized.

All plants are being grown on my home made soil mix, consisting of cocopeat, common potting soil, local clay, vermiculite and perlite. Since I grow organically, the soil has been upgraded with some bloodmeal (N) , bonemeal (P) and vinasse (K). I also apply some mollasses-based liquid fertilizer when watering the plants.

I just labelled the first 4 females out of the B line (backcross) accordingly. They look fine, just had a couple of weeks of bad weather so they haven´t been able to grow tall. Another 22 seedlings out of this line are doing a bit better, they´re from the second batch. Batch [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] is underway, got 12x more of the A line and 12 x B line germing at the moment. I´m happy with the current results.

Looking good, nice girlys dou have, plz click "full image" to upload your gear, passing some

Thanks, TheMongol, I´m still trying to get used to this forum software. Will add full images from now on!

really like the look of the "B line" plants...always had a thing for the dwarfs. how big are you expecting those to get?

Hello Sundog, the four plants out of the first batch are just around 20-25 cm tall as a result of the cold nights and bad weather in their first weeks, but the later batches of this line had a much better start with loads of sunlight so I expect them to eventually grow out to 25/50 cm, depending on pot size. About the same size as Lowryder would do. Hoping to find some dwarfs amongst the A line, which is a F2 sidebreed of the F1 cross that cointains more Herijuana genetics than de B line.

I'm living close to Amsterdam and the weather has been outstanding for the last couple of weeks, it just couldn't get better than this. Weather forecasts predict another warm and sunny week to come. The balcony garden is lookin' good, getting greener every day now.

The next gen B line is doin' really well at the moment. Some differences in size, but that's normal as it took a couple of days for all the seeds to germinate. All of these plants are intended to grow sinsemilla crop, but I would never use the 7 plants on the right for further breeding. If it was for breeding, I would not use these individuals for further generations. The 9 ones on the left seem to perform much better.

Repotting will take place as soon as plants show sex. The best pants will be repotted seperately, the remaining ones will be mass planted in 2 larger containers. The soil in these containers is being kept moist for a couple of weeks now, allowing all kinds of micro organisms to settle. Right now i'm using these containers as a platform for smaller plants, but within 1 or 2 weeks they'll be filled with groups of dwarf sized AF females. They have a shallow bottom bin that allows watering from beneath, wich is perfect. I gotta be carefull though, and remember to remove the bins as soon as rainshowers will occur.

The non-AF plants out of the A & C line will be redistributed to friends later this week. If any non-AF plants remain, they will be hosted on guerilla sites. Don't want any large growing photoperiodic plants on my balcony, as this would draw too much attention.

Some non-AF indivduals out of the A & C line. Healthy lookin'and vigourously growing plants, but not suitable for my balcony grow, nore for further breeding.
