Indoor Zero's 1st Solo cup Granddaddy Purple auto

Man this grow has me so tempted to try out a solo with some coco. Really enjoyed the 1 gallons I did.
Do it! They take up almost no space at all, you will love it!

I mainly only feed when i wake up and right before bed, other feed times are just bonus, they are not that much work and makes a great plant to try crossing if you want a few seeds, as solo cups finish faster it seems.

Okay cool deal, I'll have to pull out that extra coco I have and throw a bean in to try it out along side the Beaver G&S once I get beans they are going right in the soil. Now to just pick a strain.... Too many choices lol

And yeah I would have to agree with you on the finishing time. My ogreberry in a 1 gal is on day 57 and I'm already seeing a bunch of amber so it'll be done within the next couple days I'd guess. Most of my 3 gals go 70+

In my solo effort, I set up automatic top watering to runoff as described on Cocoforcannabis.com, and I loved it. Worked a treat, and allowed multiple fertigations per day. Here is one of the girls:

Oh yeah I like that setup a lot. I already have an extra 5 gal res and pump I could use for that.

If you set this up, make sure that you have a timer programmable down to seconds. The one I used is the one recommended by Cocoforcannabis, and once you get past learning the programming, it worked well. As I recall, each of my fertigations was something like 10-15 seconds. As the CFC gurus point out, if you fertigate frequently, not much liquid is needed because the medium is still moist. Fertigating frequently seems to keep the medium consistently moist and at a stable EC and nutrient mix. The girls seemed to love it. In my next grow, I will be using the same irrigation setup with ~2gallon pseudo-airpots and coco and Jacks 321. Should be interesting. :pighug:

Amazing!! my end goal is for all my solos is to look like that

I'll have to get something for top irrigation, i seen some cheap setups and I'll remember seconds and not mins when setting it up lol
i have a submergable pump 800gph (might be overkill) would gravity fed work just fine? hang a 5 gallon bucket up and have a valve open on a timer?

I understand the picking a strain part lol i picked GDP because its my 1st grown out plant and i love the smoke and was wondering how it would a grow in a solo cup with those huge nugs she makes

I thought about the gravity option, but went for a pump instead. The pump you have will work just fine, mine is actually a sump pump with even higher capacity, it does not matter. These pumps are centrifugal pumps, they do not care how much water moves through them. They will pressurize the line while they have power, always at pretty much the same pressure (unlike gravity as water in reservoir goes down). Since you will need the timer anyway, I'd say just go with pumped irrigation.

The timer recommended by Cocoforcannabis is the one to get. I searched for other options, and there is nothing better or cheaper to do the job. The programming is a bit of a pain, but once you are on to it, it works fine. If you go with the same timer, don't hesitate to ask for help with the programming. Have a careful look at the setup described on cocoforcannabis before you set things up, and don't miss the need for avoiding siphoning from your reservoir - bottom line is that all irrigation outlets (the actual holes that water/nutes come out) have to be higher than the highest water level in the reservoir. As long as that is done, when the pump stops, the water in the lines siphons, or tries to, back into the reservoir. If the outlets are lower, liquid will siphon into your pots and tent until the water level in the reservoir gets as low as the outlet holes. Big reservoir, big problem. :goodluck: :pighug:

Forgot to mention, one of the reasons I didn't go with gravity feed is that many of the electrical irrigation valves that might work from a timer appeared to require more pressure to operate than they would see in a gravity feed setup. They seem mostly designed to operate at household water line pressure. It was also difficult to actually find out whether particular designs would actually function at really low liquid pressure. Anyway this issue coupled with others convinced me to just try the setup described by the CFC dudes. It worked so well, that I am setting it up for the whole grow next time, not just for solos.

Day 53

Showed signs i was over feeding so i stopped feeding and have only been giving her ph'd water for 4-5 days now, today i fed a small dose of megacrop 600ppm or so.

I learned to go lighter on the feedings for my next solo cup grow, i was using the same ppm as my big plants, mistake, i'll mix up solo cups own mix next time i try this and go 400-600ppm only, unlike this grow i was doing 900-1000 :face:
