New Grower Zero Experience Grower - DWC Trans Siberian & Critical Jack

Hey guys, no big changes in the critical jack since I fed her. Tips are still yellow and she doesn't seem to be growing very fast. It's at day 8 and still only the first set of leaves and no roots popping out of the rockwool.

Seems slow??

I got some RO water yesterday and changed out the buckets first thing this morning. My 2nd trans Siberian seed hasn't popped yet. Starting to wonder if she's a dud.

remember back in post #9 I said if it was me I would through it away and start over with the setup up and running water level set ect ect... you have to remember plants don't just die we kill them because we cant leave well enough alone sometimes. if you write everything you do in you grow log and something goes wrong after you make a change your pretty sure you know what caused it then reverse it. don't get discouraged find a couple of DWC grows and follow along and be patience and youll be on top of your game in no time. I know the hard part is sifting through 10 different answers to just one question you ask, what ever you do only make one change at a time.

Thanks for the words of encouragement toke. I need to keep this up to date. I've had a few bumps in the road and started new threads instead of keeping this one going.

Right on man, I gotta keep my log goin. Good bad and ugly, I'll keep this going!

OK guys - Just to keep my thread alive, here are some minor updates. Changed out the bucket reservoirs today.

The Critical Jack is on day 14. She looks OK to me, but definitely seems to be behind schedule. Just 2 sets of leaves, and the 2nd set are just 1 finger leaves. This is the longest I've kept something alive, so I'm happy about that.

The leaf tips are yellow and have been for over a week. And she started curling downwards recently. Hope its OK. I covered those topics in these threads:

Today I gave her a 1/2 strength feeding using the general hydroponics chart. It included FloraDuo A + B + CaliMagic + Diamond Nectar + RapidStart. The ppm was just shy of 500 for this week. That's up from 350 last week.

Trans Siberian
- Its day 2 for the Trans Siberian. This is my 3rd (!!!) bean. The first one died on me, because I made a bunch of mistakes. The 2nd one didn't germ after 5 days, so i gave up on it. Now the third bean poked her head up just yesterday.

The good news is that along with the plant sprouting, there was a small little root poking out of the bottom of the rockwool. The bad news is that the sprout came up kind of sideways. Its like one of the cotyledons didn't really detach from the new leaves. See pics below:

Water is a ph 5.7 in the res and I added a little bit of Rapid Start to get the PPM up around 140.

I'm just going to leave it be for a few days and keep my fingers crossed.

I'm also hand watering both plants right now. This is something I read about for DWC systems. Basically I'm taking a 2 cup measuring cup and filling it with water from the bucket the plant is sitting in and slowly pouring it over the hydroton around the rockwool. I try not to soak the rockwool directly, but inevitably it gets a little wet.

I do a hand watering daily.

Bad news guys, the Trans Siberian was dead this morning. Shriveled up and keeled over. What am I doing wrong? This is such a bummer.

The Critical Jack is starting to look sickly too. I guess I'm missing something, but I can't seem to keep these plants alive longer than 1-2 weeks.

I had trouble with my Trans Siberian she never sprouted. But ima a new DWC user and am experiencing some problems now, it seems you had the ph right and the ppm was okay....idk but maybe the ppm was to high for such early seedlings I started my babies at around 70 ppm than gradually moved up to 140. Jus my experience and again ima noob but thought I tired to help out with the little that I do now. Good luck jah bless and karma blown ur way :bong:
